DTE Maharashtra has taken a smart move by reopening the online registration for CAP 2014 in MAHCET to explore and increase the possibilities of filling up the maximum seats in MBA/MMS
Candidates who appeared in February 2014 CMAT/MAT have yet another opportunity to register till may 21, 2014

‘Once bitten, twice shy’ the DTE Maharashtra has taken a smart move by reopening the online registration for CAP 2014 in MAHCET to explore and increase the possibilities of filling up the maximum seats in MBA/MMS programmes 2014 across Maharashtra B schools. http://www.mbauniverse.com/article/id/7683/MAH-CET-2014-Registration

Interestingly registration has been opened again only for the All India seats as in 2013 thousands of seats remained vacant in B schools in Maharashtra. Candidates who appeared in February 2014 CMAT/MAT have yet another opportunity to register till may 21, 2014 and can participate in Centralized Admission Process of DTE Maharashtra to get admission in Government, University Managed, University Department or Private B school in Maharashtra.

Seats remained vacant in 2013

In 2013 there was no MAHCET due to the ongoing legal issue. CMAT conducted by AICTE  other All India MBA entrance tests were the sole criteria to shortlist the candidates for admission in B schools in Maharashtra. This resulted in more than 50 percent seats remaining vacant and this not only caused great loss to the b schools but also put a question mark on their future sustainability.

Intake has increased

In 2012 there were only 34 thousand seats for various MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes in Maharashtra, this number has now increased to 45 thousand and total number of candidates who registered for MAHCET are around 49 thousand. Out of this number a few thousands might have already got their admission offer from various B schools in India and in all probability they may not turn up for MAHCET 2014 admission process. The chances are that almost all of the candidates who intend to register for CAP 2014 now, may get admission in one or other B school in Maharashtra.

More ARCs assigned

The CAP 2014 will now continue till May 22, 2014 through different ARCs across Maharashtra. Candidates desirous to participate in CAP should apply online and make online payment only. To facilitate the process DTE Maharashtra has identified some institutions from the state for the work of the receipt of the application form. These institutions are called ‘Application Form Receipt Centre (ARC). More number of such ARCs have been opened in Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad to expedite the process of CAP 2014.

Good Opportunity for CMAT/MAT Feb 2014 takers

The candidates who took MAT/CMAT Feb 2014 but missed to register for MAHCET 2014 have a good opportunity to register by May 21, 2014 for CAP round. It is expected that you could get a good B school in Maharashtra even at a low percentile.

The fee for MBA/MMS/PGDM programme in Maharashtra in a management institute taking part in DTE conducted CAP is decided by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ in Maharashtra and it can be as low as Rs.1 lac to Rs. 3 lacs across Maharashtra. This fee structure is lower than the cost of pursuing MBA from private B schools in other parts of the country where the fee may be as high as Rs.8 to 14 lacs.

Placement in B schools in Maharashtra is also good and students of many institutes like JBIMS, SIMSREE, KJ Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, SIES, IESMCRC, MET, DSIMS, DY Patil, PUMBA, Singhad secure placement packages as high as the students in other top rated B schools.

MBAUniverse has already shared the admission Opportunities in top B schools in Mumbai, Pune for the high MAT percentilers and CMAT scorers. The registration in MAHCET CAP 2014 may be a windfall in terms of seeking admission in B schools in Maharashtra.
