In a move to fill the maximum MBA/MMS/PGDM seats in 400+ B schools across Maharashtra DTE has extended the last date of registration in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) from May 21, 2014 to May 29, 2014.
27557 candidates have so far registered for CAP with DTE against 45297 seats of MBA/MMS programmes in 411 B schools across Maharashtra.

27557 candidates have so far registered for CAP with DTE against 45297 seats of MBA/MMS programmes in 411 B schools across Maharashtra. Alarmed with this deficit, Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra has further extended the date of CAP registration to May 29, 2014 while the date for verification of documents at ARC has also been extended to May 30, 2014.

Earlier, owing to less participation in MAH CET 2014 CAP, DTE Maharashtra extended the CAP Registration date from MAY 12 to May 21, 2014. Online applications were invited for those aspiring candidates who could not register for MAH MBA/ MMS CET 2014 during January 27 to February 14, 2014 but appeared for CAT 2014, XAT 2014, GMAT 2014, CMAT 2014, MAT FEB 2014 and ATMA.

But despite of this extension, DTE Maharashtra is unable to fill its total quota of 45297 seats of MBA/MMS programmes across Maharashtra.

In a desperate attempt to fill these seats in 400+ B schools across Maharashtra DTE has now further extended the last date of registration in Centralized admission process (CAP) from May 21, 2014 to May 29, 2014.

In 2013 also when the seats were less in number, more than 50 percent seats remained vacant in Maharashtra B schools. This not only caused great loss to the B schools but also put a question mark on their future sustainability.

The decision is expected to give an opportunity to approximately 20K MAT May 2014 takers to register online with DTE Maharashtra for CAP process for admission to various MBA programmes in Maharashtra in the session 2014. Results of MAT May 2014 are expected to be announced in the last week of May 2014 and there may not be good gap of days to apply on line for CAP round of MAHCET 2014. Candidates have to keep their documents ready to apply immediately after the declaration of results.

Document verification date extended

The date for verification of documents at ARCs across Maharashtra has also been extended to May 30, 2014 from May 22, 2014. To facilitate the process DTE Maharashtra has identified some institutions from the state for the work of the receipt of the application form. These institutions are called ‘Application Form Receipt Centre (ARC). More number of such ARCs have been opened in Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad to expedite the process of CAP 2014.

Low fee: good placement

The fee for MBA/MMS/PGDM programme in Maharashtra in a management institute taking part in DTE conducted CAP is decided by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ in Maharashtra and it can be as low as Rs.1 lac to Rs. 3 lacs across Maharashtra. This fee structure is lower than the cost of pursuing MBA from private B schools in other parts of the country where the fee may be as high as Rs.8 to 14 lacs.

Seats are available

There is still a good chance for All India test takers to find admission possibilities in Maharashtra B schools. Thousands of seats meant for All India candidates appear to be still vacant. Candidates who appeared in February 2014 CMAT and Feb & May 2014 MAT may have yet another opportunity to get admission in good B schools in Maharashtra by registering for CAP till May 29, 2014.
