In recognition of growing importance of Indian MBA education on the global stage, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has invited Dr Bibek Banerjee, Director IMT Ghaziabad, to serve on its Asia-Pacific Advisory Council (APAC).

In a letter to Dr Banerjee, John J. Fernandes, President and CEO, AACSB International said “I invite you to serve on the Asia-Pacific Advisory Council (APAC) from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015”. According to Mr Fernandes, Dr Banerjee will be invited to AACSB meetings scheduled in 2014-15.

Accepting this prestigious invitation, Dr Banerjee extended his gratitude to AACSB. Dr Banerjee is the Director of Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad (IMTG) and Academic Mentor of Group-IMT. He was earlier with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), where he spent 18 years as Professor of Marketing & Economics.

To propagate its accreditation standards in Asia, about 5 years back, AACSB established its Asia office in Singapore with Dr Eileen Peacock, Senior Vice President and Chief Officer, Asia, leading the efforts. The Singapore office has substantially increased its capacity to advance quality management education in Asia. In last five years, AACSB Membership and Accreditation in the region have grown 118% and 147%, respectively.  Currently there are 43 AACSB members in India, second only to China at 46, or 54 with Hong Kong included. But only two schools in India are accredited by AACSB, less than China (16 including Hong Kong), South Korea (13), and Chinese Taipei (9).

AACSB International is a global, non-profit membership organization of educational institutions devoted to the advancement of management education. Established in 1916, AACSB International provides its members with a variety of products and services to assist them with the continuous improvement of their business programs and schools.  In 2013, AACSB International announced its new accreditation standards that focus on Innovation, Engagement, and Impact in management education. The AACSB Accreditation Standards challenge schools to pursue excellence and continuous improvement throughout their business programs.

Established in 1980, IMT Ghaziabad has consistently been one of the top rated B schools of the country. The institute has been working closely with some of the leading universities across the globe to give the students and faculty international exposure and experience. IMT Ghaziabad provides dual degree options in partnership with Arizona State University’s (ASU) WP Carey School Business, in which students have the ability to earn degrees from both institutions.
