Now that you have decided to go for MBA course this year, it’s time for the next level. With just 100 days left for the CAT exam to begin, things will get competitive from now on.

Thus we are writing this letter to make you clear of what you must do, what you must remember and what you must not do in order to be successful in your CAT 2014 exam. Every aspirant is different; you have a different studying style, different strong points and weaknesses but remember you all have to compete together for one GOAL- the coveted seat in IIM and Top B-schools. And believe me this will need some serious thinking and action on your part.

Let’s just make a list of things you need to do in this next 100 odd days to your CAT 2014 exam:

 

1. Playtime gets over, wear your thinking Cap!

Yes, enough said and done. It’s time to put your head down and start spending serious time for CAT preparation.

Analyze where you are lacking behind, get hold of all the study material that you can and start solving those difficult questions one by one now. Check out last few years CAT Papers and figure out the topics and type of questions that have marked their attendance on a regular basis. Make your strong areas stronger by solving more difficult level of questions.

Remember, the more variety of questions you practice and solve, the more easy it will be for you to cope with the exam day anxiety.

2. Don’t Waste your Money on Coaching Classes

It’s too late probably to join regular coaching classes where you will go daily to study the nuances of Quantitative Aptitude or Verbal Ability or DI- LR.

You should have done it a long time ago. You will be only wasting your parents’ hard earned money by paying 30k to 40 k to coaching institutes just to boost your confidence.

On the contrary, you should get hold of different study materials, mock tests to help you prepare better. Although you can opt for Crash Courses or Online CAT Classes which you can refer to any time of the day while preparing for CAT 2014 exam.

3. Each Day is Crucial Now

If you are thinking that 100 days is a lot of time to prepare for CAT 2014 exam, then you are making a big mistake.

Each day is very crucial for you. Remember, you competitor i.e. other CAT Aspirants are probably preparing much harder and the late you begin the more you leave out of your study material. Also the last 30 days should be reserved for Revision, attempting & analyzing sectional and full Mock tests only.

Make a time table for each day from now on for the next 100 odd days to CAT 2014 exam. Every part and topic is important and in next three and half months you are supposed to divide the study schedule in 4 parts to cover each and practice each topic.

 

4. Utilize your Internet space

This is very crucial. You have to utilize your time that you spent on Internet, either surfing or connecting with friends on social sites.

You should join CAT 2014 aspirants’ forum or various CAT expert forums for discussions. These online forums or groups are very critical to your CAT preparation as you can find answers to all your CAT queries, how to solve difficult questions, word of the day, Question of the day, etc.

Active participation in CAT expert forums will let you to interact with CAT experts on a regular basis and you can directly share and ask your queries with them. This probably is the best utilization of your internet time.

5. Align your study schedule with CAT Test timings

Experts have suggested that CAT aspirants must try to match their study schedule with the time of CAT test. CAT exam is held in two windows; morning session and evening session.

Aligning your study hours with the CAT test timings will help you on the D-day of your CAT exam. Your mind and body cycle will be in sync and this will give you an extra edge while attempting your CAT 2014 exam as you will feel more confident and will be alert.

Often students complain of getting tired, feeling lazy and unable to sit for long hours during CAT exam. This is probably due to their un-matched study schedule which affects their performance in CAT exam.

 

6. Switch your Retina to Computer screen

If you are still learning from hand written notes or books, it’s time you switch your retina to Computer screen.

CAT 2014 exam is an online exam to be held on computer and hence you must be ready and comfortable to stare at your Computer screen for 2 hours at a stretch.CAT Aspirants complain of headache and other problems related to eye as they don’t get adapted to solving questions or reading long RC passages on Computer screens.

Try to solve as many Online Mock tests as possible. Read and solve long RC passages online to get adapted to your Bright Computer screen. These small adjustments will help you in long run and will improve your final Percentile for CAT 2014 exam.

6. Don’t make your own assumptions

The biggest mistake that CAT aspirants do is trying to be an Expert themselves. There are students who decide to leave a particular or few topics as they believe these are not important or probably will not appear in CAT exam.

This is a grave mistake you are doing. Don’t leave any topic; you don’t know which question might appear in your CAT question set. Always consult an expert or your mentor before deciding to leave any topic or any particular type of question.

7. Forget the Rumors; maintain your cool

 There are various rumors that are and will do the rounds on internet and newspapers regarding CAT 2014 exam.

Whether it’s CAT 2013 court cases, CAT marking schemes, importance of getting 99+ percentile, impact of new CAT testing agency, No. of CAT registration, blah blah.... Forget all these and keep your full focus on your CAT 2014 exam preparation.

All these should not affect your CAT preparation. You have to keep your focus to score a high percentile in CAT exam to make your dream of sitting in a coveted b school Like IIM come true.
