Why MBA?  Merits of MBA?

I began my journey after schooling to pursue my B. tech in Computer Science. After graduation, I started my career at Hitech Robotic Systems. I had a  great bent towards being creative with technology  thus I got a chance to be a part of the innovation cell at Hitech Robotic Systemz Ltd. Life was good as I was free to spill my ideas on table and likewise for other members of my team. But out of so many ideas only a few filtered down as feasible ones and various other factors decided how promising they really are. So with time I realised that just having a knowhow of technology was just not enough. At the end of the day every project needs to sustain by making good business sense.

Second lesson I learnt was that utility of an innovation is not decided by the creator but the one who uses it at the end. Thus no matter how wonderful a creation is, it’s of no use till someone is ready to pay a price for it. Thus I realised for my holistic growth MBA was absolutely essential to give me an impetus to understand the nuances of business and to have a multi dimensional perspective of whatever project I undertake. I appeared for CAT exam and got a chance to pursue my MBA at IMT Nagpur which was a great opportunity.

Essentially, a full time MBA course touches upon all areas of business in the first year be it an HR, Operations, Marketing or Finance with the help of lot of case studies that give a realistic view of the kind of issues that have cropped up in the past in the best of the companies and what measures were taken or should have been taken to overcome them. Thus it builds a foundation in the first year enough for a student to have a general overview of how businesses thrive and enables them  to choose for the subjects of interest in the second year. In the second year usually the subject experts delve deep into the chosen areas to further polish their understanding of the subjects. Internships and live projects provide students with a platform to practically use their knowledge in the industry. And last but not the least MBA teaches you that you realise your full potential only by working as a team and not as an individual no matter how bright you might be.

Success Story:

I had a keen interest in marketing since the very beginning, so I took up core marketing as my specialization. Back there at IMT, we had highly knowledgeable faculty that used the most modern pedagogy techniques and recent real life examples to explain us the subject matter in depth. They didn’t just confine us to studies but also shaped us as confident individuals to face interviewers from the industry. Today thanks to their efforts and guidance I am working at ICICI Lombard, as Vertical Product Manager.

Why should one opt for an MBA?

Access to Top Lecturers

Business Schools select their best lecturers to teach in these programs. Often the lecturers who teach these programs will also have extensive consulting experience in the business world. Expect lecturers to be adept at teaching you from an executive perspective, and to be skilled at facilitating classroom interaction among experienced students.

Executive Perspective

Professionals look at the challenges of business with the benefit of experience. MBA programs help students look at business problems and opportunities from a broader perspective. You’ll become knowledgeable about the concepts underpinning key business disciplines, and also focus on integrating this knowledge with your prior background and experience.

Collaborative Learning

You may think of a university classroom as a competitive environment, however at the MBA level, building partnerships, alliances and other cooperative relationships becomes as important as competing with others. MBA programs focus on collaboration rather than competition. In the classroom and in study groups, you’ll test your own team building skills and learn to rely on others to help you succeed. Successful MBA students learn how to share responsibilities with others and take advantage of each others’ experience and knowledge for mutual benefit – a skill directly transferable to their work.

Increased Confidence

If you’ve developed business skills and knowledge on the job, an MBA program can help you fill in the gaps, learn the language of business and give you a firm grounding in the fundamentals of its various disciplines.

What are the merits of doing an MBA?

Skills improved in an MBA program

- Analytical skills

- Interpersonal skills

- Ability to integrate information

- Oral and written communication skills

- Decision- making ability

- Ability to think strategically

- Computer /technological skills

- Technical skills

- Creative skills

- Leadership skills

- Networking skills

Your success stories

I was a fresher when I joined IMT Nagpur. I hardly had any practical exposure. Studying through case methodology has changed my outlook to look at the things through broader prospective as well as getting into the nitty-gritty of the problems. I joined my family business and have applied lot of things I have learned during MBA into my business. I have learned to add fresh ideas which helped my business in a big way. I was able to achieve 100 percent growth in my family business within a span of 3 years. Recently I have been awarded “Young Achiever Award“by Career Options Magazine.
