Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), another highly ranked dream B school will conduct the entrance test for its most sought after 2 years MBA programme in International Business on November 23, 2014, for the batch 2015-17. This programme is available at IIFT New Delhi and Kolkata campuses in India and at Dar-es-Salaam campus in Tanzania.
IIFT 2015 Eligibility
There is no age limit to appear in IIFT entrance examination except that the applicants must possess recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration, although there is no requirement of minimum percentage of marks. However in the second phase of admission round profile of a candidate like academic record, work experience, writing skills will play an important role to secure admission in IIFT.
Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by the 7th October 2015.
The admission of a candidate who joins the programme on provisional basis but fails to qualify in the Bachelor’s degree examination is liable to be cancelled forthwith.
IIFT 2015 Exam pattern
IIFT will conduct the entrance test for its Delhi and Kolkata campuses in 20 cities across India. The conventional paper pencil mode test will be of two hours duration from 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon to be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014.
The written admission test to MBA Programme in IIFT 2014 consists of multiple choice objective type questions (in English). IIFT 2015 exam pattern comprises the questions covering English Comprehension, General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis.
Composition of test
There are no fixed number of questions in IIFT 2015 entrance test, their number may go anywhere in the range of 115 to 130.
English Comprehension
English comprehension is composed of core verbal ability and questions on Reading comprehension passages.
There were 36 questions in English comprehension, formed on following topics in the IIFT entrance test held on November 24, 2013 for admission session 2014-15

Data Interpretation
Around 20 questions are expected in this section. IIFT asked 19 DI questions in different data forms like tables and bar diagrams in 2013. The information part is followed by 4-5 questions so it’s worth trying with patience. A little more practice can be great help in this section
Logical Reasoning
Logical reasoning section had 20 questions based on blood relations, seating arrangements, series, analogy, sets. IIFT covers almost all the topics in logical reasoning with 1 or 2 questions on each. Statements, arguments, conclusions are a few favorite topics which require more in-depth study.
General Awareness
28 questions were there to test the General Awareness of the aspirants in IIFT 2013 and the same trend may be repeated in November 2014. Questions cover conventional as well as current national and international affairs and relevant economic, business topics apart from major policy decisions.
Questions can also be based to test the aspirants’ awareness about the birthday of famous personalities; their work; Constitution of India; fictional characters.
The candidate may attempt any question from any section during the time allotted to attempt the test in the examination.
Marking system in IIFT Entrance
The marking system may vary from question to question or from section to section in the range of 0.5 to 1 mark per question.
Penalty of one third marks will be awarded for every wrong answer. The candidates therefore have to be careful to avoid this negative marking by choosing the answer options with well calculated thought process.
Final Admission process after the Test
Candidates will be called for Essay Writing, Group Discussion and Interview, based on marks obtained in Written Test. This second and final selection round will be held in January/February 2015 in various cities in India. The candidates are required to select one of the specified centers for Essay Writing, GD and Interview.
Expert tips to prepare for the IIFT 2015 entrance test
According to Prof. S.K. Agarwal, Verbal expert time management is the most important part to score high in the examination. Entrance test to IIFT requires consistent and planned study pattern. The examination in itself is a little tricky and questions in Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension are sometimes indirect and quite confusing also. All the four sections in the examination are equally important as you need to score a high percentile. If you are serious enough and have prepared well for CAT and XAT you must continue in the same spirit. Most of the questions are similar and based on the same concepts of English language, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning as appear in both these examinations; the need is to improve your attempts in limited time.
