4 Specializations offered at the application time

SPJIMR’s PGDM programme offers four specialisations –Information Management, Operations, Marketing and Finance and the choice of specialisation is available at the time of application.

The applicants select their specialisation at the application stage itself.  It helps -

-Achieve segmentation at the time of admission based on differentiated need of the recruiting organisations

-Participants develop a clear and sharp focus early on in the programme

-Broaden the spectrum of recruiters as participants graduate

-Avoid overcrowding in one specialisation and mitigates the risk of periodic downturns across sectors

SPJIMR: PGDM SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process of SPJIMR assesses not only intellectual readiness in terms of academics but also emotional readiness, work experience, extracurricular activities and aptitude for and befitting the Institute’s mission of value-based leadership.

Profile based shortlisting

The admission process at SPJIMR shortlists applicants on the basis of their profiles (subject to a minimum qualifying test score, which is set at 85 percentile in case of CAT/XAT or a GMAT score of 650). The admission approach emphasises the interview process where applicants come face-to-face with the interviewing team from SPJIMR. The Institute calls in as many as 2,500 plus aspirants for interviews. The Institute seeks to interview as many applicants as possible and may call in more this year.

The final merit list is based on a composite score which takes into account the applicant’s academic record, entrance test scores, relevance of work experience for the chosen specialisation and performance in two rounds of group interviews.

Early Interviews for Profile based shortlisted applicants

The applicants, shortlisted based on their profiles are sorted into two groups corresponding to two phases of interviews.

FIRST PHASE SHORTLISTS FOR EARLY JANUARY 2015 INTERVIEWS:

Applicants placed in the first phase of this shortlist are called for an early interview based on their profile where the following factors are considered:

- Consistency of academic record

- Relevance of work experience for the specialisation

- Versatility

- Achievements

Shortlists at this early stage provide an opportunity to the applicant to go through the interview process early. This is convenient for applicants because it avoids overlapping with other interview calls during the admissions season

SECOND PHASE SHORTLISTS FOR JANUARY- FEBRUARY 2015 INTERVIEWS:

This phase is held after the availability of entrance test scores. Applicants in this phase are called for interviews based on their profiles as given above along with their performance in the entrance tests. This interview call is thus a combination of the profile of the applicant and his/her performance in the entrance tests.
