The fact that XAT 2015 will be conducted on the similar pattern as in earlier XAT exams without any change in the pattern and syllabus, makes XAT one of the most favourite management entrance tests in the country.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2015 will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI on January 4, 2015. XLRI has been conducting XAT for the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pencil mode to provide level playing field for the XAT aspirants coming from all backgrounds.

XAT 2015: Test duration and pattern

XAT 2015 will be a 3 hours test.  The test will be conducted in 47 cities across India in a single session beginning from 10.30 AM to 1.30 PM with no break in between.

XAT 2015 will be divided between Objective MCQs and subjective Essay Writing tests. The Multiple choice questions (MCQs) part will be over in 150 minutes and next 30 minutes will be allotted for essay writing part.

XAT 2015 test takers will have to complete the first 3 sections of the first part of the MCQ exam namely Verbal and Logical Ability; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in 140 minutes while questions in General Knowledge section will have to be attempted in 10 minutes only. 30 minutes will separately be allotted for essay writing test.

XAT 2015: Test to provide equal opportunity

XAT 2015 will be conducted in paper pen mode so that those who have pre-familiarity of operating computers, specially coming from privileged background or having worked in IT sector, do not get any advantage over others who do not have access to computers. The paper-pen mode also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.

XAT scores will be used by 120+ B schools apart from XLRI as the criteria for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes for 2015-17 batch. Registration for XAT 2015 will remain open till November 22, 2014.

XAT 2015: Composition of test

XAT 2015 will be divided in two parts

Part-1

The first part of XAT 2015 will have four sections in Multiple choice questions(MCQs) format

A. Verbal and Logical Ability

B schools will individually decide their shortlisitng criteria on the basis of XAT 2015 scores.  The marks of General Knowledge will not be used for determining the percentile and cut off at first stage of selection. However it will be used by XLRI and some other Associate Member Institutes at the time of final selection

Part-2

The second part in XAT 2015 will be the test on writing ability. Aspirants will be asked to write an essay on a given topic. Candidates having been tested on objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will also be tested on real life driven written communication skill based on wider perspective on important issues. Their performance in essay writing will also form the base of their final section round.

Negative marking

one fourth marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in XAT 2015. So please be careful while marking your answer choice on the OMR sheet.

XAT 2015: Separate section on Decision Making

XAT is probably the only favourite management entrance test which has Decision Making as a separate section. In fact making decisions in business environment  is something an MBA aspirant should be aware of. This is probably the reason that XAT emphasises on this module and has developed a separate section with 25 questions on decision making.

Decision making question consists of a passage with certain information followed by 4-5 questions. Each of the questions is again followed by 4-5 close decision making answer options.

The questions may be on what should be the decision in the given situation, how should it be taken, why should it be taken-factors influencing the decision or who should take it. XAT aspirants will have to arrive at the right answer option based on the given information.
