This link will be made available in mid-October 2014.” If this practice test is made available in a day or two, CAT 2014 aspirants will be able to utilize their Diwali holidays to focus their preparation strategy in right direction.
No doubt CAT Centre 2014 is gradually fulfilling the promises but as of now the CAT 2014 practice test appears most important for the aspirants to become familiarized with the changed new exam pattern and type of test questions. Next 3-4 days will be the Diwali holidays and CAT aspirants wish to utilize this period to boost their level of preparation in right direction and focus on practicing the probable question types. All this may be understood and practiced well only after the CAT 2014 practice test is out.
Used to be live with CAT Registration earlier
CAT conducting IIMs in earlier years placed the live practice tests on the site along with the opening of registration process. However in CAT 2014 number of changes in exam pattern, questions, time have been made, CAT 2014 site has not yet revealed when the Practice test would be made live on the site. The only caption linked to the icon ‘Test duration and pattern’ is ‘will be published soon, refer high lights for the exact dates’ and the highlights remain silent and display nothing about the practice test.

Launch of Practice Test: When expected
CAT centre 2014 has made live almost all the icons except the ‘Test duration and pattern’ which is very important for CAT 2014 aspirants. The icon was supposed to be made live in the middle of October 2014 but probably due to re-opening of registration for one day and suspension of CAT 2014 registration window from Oct 28 to 29, 2014 in an order to update the same, not only the practice test but also the issue of Admit cards was also delayed by 3 days.
Going by the same trend Prof S K Agarwal expects that CAT Centre 2014 would make the practice test and exam pattern live in a day or two, may be before Diwali. Leaving apart the practicing of questions in practice test candidates in view of Prof S K Agarwal should follow certain do’s shared below
- CAT 2014 will have 100 questions to be solved in 170 minutes. In earlier years it was 60 questions to be solved in 140 minutes. Average time per question now stands reduced by roughly 1 minute in CAT 2014. It means better time management is needed.
-Improve your speed with accuracy. This could come to you with practicing more questions of the same difficulty level and deploying efforts to reduce the time in solving them gradually in next 20 days.
-Learn the art of studying for more hours. Not only studying but also devoting more time to practice sessions.
-Target should be 3 hours of practice session per day with no breaks. If you focus on it, you may end up finally acing the CAT 2014.
