AICTE has declared CMAT Sep 2014 results in the wee hours on October 30, 2014. CMAT Sep 2014 is the first MBA/PGDM entrance test for admission 2015 - 16.
MBAUniverse.com presents the CMAT scoring pattern and expected CMAT cut off for leading B schools

A merit list of 43212 candidates has been announced by AICTE for the candidates who have found their names in the merit list. Second CMAT for admission session 2015-16 is proposed in the month of February 2015 details of which are yet to be announced.

Merit list has Candidates with negative marks

Unlike other management entrance exams CMAT  doesn’t disqualify any test takers. According to AICTE policy guidelines “The results will rank all the candidates who appeared in the test based on their aptitude towards the management education in the order of their merit. Candidates will not be declared as eliminated from the admission process in the AICTE approved management programme.  On the contrary the aim is to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per the rank awarded by CMAT.”

Going by this process, candidates with marks in negative and as low as -20 or so have found their names appearing in the merit list of qualified candidates.

11 candidates cross 300 marks

The National Merit List declared along with the CMAT Sep 2014 result has 11 candidates with 300 or more marks. The highest score of 323 is obtained by 1 candidate and there are 4 candidates at 300 score. This is a positive sign since CMAT scores earlier indicated a dip from 326 in Sep 2013 test scores to 317 in Feb 2014  test scores. The list contains a number of 43212 candidates who have been declared successful in CMAT Sep 2014 despite the fact that many of them have scored negative marks.

Expected cut offs in top B schools

To help you decide which MBA program to apply with your CMAT Sep 2014  scores, MBAUniverse.com presents the expected CMAT cut off for leading B schools in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi NCR that accept CMAT scores.

Since CMAT scores have improved only marginally, not much change in short listing criteria based on CMAT scores is expected.  However, in a major development shared by JBIMS Mumbai, it has been made clear that JBIMS will not accept CMAT scores for the admission session 2015-16. maximum CMAT score has significantly come down from 376 to 317 marks, and average CMAT score has also come down from 94 and 70. This will mean that CMAT cut offs will drop in all B-schools.

Based on the past trends, MBAUniverse.com predicts the expected cut offs in top B-schools accepting CMAT scores as under: (Please check the details about Maharashtra B schools on their site  before applying for admission to them, as number of changes are in the offing in their admission process and eligible exams for shortlisting)

Key facts to remember

Candidates seeking admission in Maharashtra state B schools should note that registration to Mah-CET 2015 is mandatory for admission through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra in 2015.  A few private B schools may offer direct admission to their PGDM programmes and the admission opportunities with them may be explored by visiting MBAUniverse.com site or on the site of respective b schools.

A few B schools, apart from accepting CMAT scores may also conduct their entrance tests for admission. Candidates are advised to appear in such tests as the cumulative score will give them a better admission opportunity.
