Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) is one of the premium B schools in the country. The B school has a track record of 100 percent placement. CIMP has been conferred Dr. J J. Irani Award for excellence in management education (Mumbai, November 2012). Later it was presented an award by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in recognition of its significant contributions to leadership development (Mumbai, December 2012). 

With active support from the Government of Bihar, CIMP was established in 2008 as an autonomous institution. The institute was established with the objective of contributing substantially to the academic and development credentials of Bihar, while fulfilling the primary role of training students to become effective managers.

Dr Das has worked with Verghese Kurien at Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), has been at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Kozhikode and School of Communication and Management Studies, Kochi.

Talking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr. V Mukunda Das, shares the key trends, modified admission process and USPs of this B school. Below are given the excerpts of the interview
 
MBAUniverse.com: Which exam scores will CIMP accept in admission for PGDM batch 2015-17?

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): Scores of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2014, will be the admission gateway to the flagship two-year full-time Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) batch 2015-17 at Chandragupta Institute of Management (CIMP), Patna for admission session 2015. Candidates appearing in CAT 2014 can apply now for admission at CIMP. The application process will remain open till December 17, 2014.

MBAUniverse.com: What would be the short listing criteria apart from CAT 2014 scores for final admission round at CIMP? Will there be any weightage for academic profile, work experience, gender diversity?

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): The final merit list would be prepared taking weighted scores of various components like Academic record, CAT 2014 score, Work experience, Written communication, Group Discussion & Personal Interview.

MBAUniverse.com: Please share the components and weightage to be awarded to each of them in final GD/PI/WAT round at CIMP.

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): Components are Academic Record (10th, 12th and Graduation marks), CAT 2014 score, Written communication, Group discussion & Personal Interview and Work Experience (if any). The Admission Committee of CIMP decides the weightage of these components every year.

MBAUniverse.com:  Will there be any increase in intake in admission for PGDM batch 2015-17 from 60 students at present?

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): No, there will be no change in intake in admission for PGDM 2015-17. The intake for the 2015-17 session would be 60 students only.

MBAUniverse.com:  Is there any proposal to introduce new management programmes in admission session 2015-16?

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): Yes. We have plan to introduce new areas of specialization. We also intend to start an FPM (Ph.D) program in our new campus.

MBAUniverse.com:  In order to go Global in management education, will CIMP go for International Accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and the like.

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): We are currently preparing to obtain such accreditation.

MBAUniverse.com: By when the new Campus of CIMP will be ready and start functioning?

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): The Government of Bihar has allotted 10 acres of land to CIMP for building a state-of-the-art academic cum residential campus in Mithapur, which is 4 kms away from Patna airport and 1.5 kms away from Patna railway station. The construction of the new campus is already underway and is expected to be operational soon. CIMP proposes to move to its own new campus by April, 2015.

Dr V Mukunda Das (Dir CIMP): The institute has built a world class library with the help of Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad and draws teaching material from Harvard Business Publishing, an independent unit of Harvard Business School.
