With the CAT 2014 round the corner, queries based on the type of questions given in the sample test provided by IIMs are increasing day by day. In order to improve your percentile score in actual exam CAT preparation expert Mr Ankit Jindal, Quant expert on CAT preparation  shares that the Mock test made available by CAT Centre 2014 is just to make you comfortable with the look and feel of the user interface and how to operate the various navigation tools provided with the practice test. Maximum questions in that mock are from previous years CAT paper and are of easy category. So don’t get biased that in CAT2014 questions will be there only from those topics which are there in the mock test.

Next 5 days to CAT 2014

Revisit and work to improve the percentile

The suggestion for the remaining 5 days to CAT 2014 is to revise your key notes and go through those problems again which you found difficult or conceptual.

More random problems

Try to solve problems from random topics so that it will help you to recollect concepts, because in exam questions will be distributed randomly.

Analyse the mocks; Manage time

Attempting more and more mocks is not much required. The  important thing is to manage those 170 minutes efficiently to maximize the score. So, while attempting a mock our target must be to set a strategy to get the best out of those 170 minutes. And once our mock is done, its analysis is must to find where we went wrong.

No biased approach

If you are not that good in Data Interpretation as compared to Quantitative Ability and therefore, try to  avoid all the questions of DI, what will you do in case in that particular paper DI sets are much easier than quants.  You may score much higher a percentile,  if you are open to attempt those questions. Similarly VA-LR section has the same equation and Logical Reasoning becomes the percentile booster.

Important topics with examples

According to Mr Ankit Jindal, Quant expert following few topics in Number System are important with respect to CAT 2014.

1. Chinese Remainder Theorem

2. Euler’s Theorem

3. Fermat’s Theorem

4. Wilson’s Theorem
