BIMTECH ties up with BSE to offer training in capital markets

Understanding the increasing demand of trained professionals in capital markets, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) Greater Noida has joined hands with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)

to offer master's level programmes for capacity building in the area of financial market. The MOU between BIMTECH and BSE was signed on December 15, 2007.  

Under this tie up, both the organizations will jointly conduct academic training programmes and design the curriculum of the programmes, promote research in capital market, exchange resources, offer joint seminars and conferences.  

Said Dr H Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, "Under this tie up, both the institutes will jointly offers various training and master's level programmes. Through this we provide knowledge base of Bombay stock exchange for professional and student of north India." Talking about the commencement of master's programme, he said, "The programme will be called PGDM in Capital Market. The programme will be launched next year subject to the permission granted by AICTE. Our other training programmes will start from April 2008."  

Mr Rajnikant Patel, MD and CEO, BSE, said, "Through this tie-up, we will help in promoting research in capital market and exchange of resources regularly. This agreement will extend help and co-operation in developing curriculum of academic and continuing education programmes. We will also offer joint seminar, conferences or any other such activity for the benefit of the academia and industry." 

Talking about the increasing demand for trained professionals in financial services Mr Patel said, "Financial services in India is emerging as new growth area. In India 52% of GDP comes from service sector especially from financial services."  

BSE has established the Bombay Stock Exchange Training Institute (BTI), 15 years ago to provide continuing education for stockholders, merchant bankers, portfolio managers, investors and students to keep them abreast of latest developments in the capital market. It currently offers 36 courses on which about 183 programmes are conducted that are attended by over 6,500 participants a year.  

It is also offering programmes with other management institutes. Said Mr Patel, "We have tie up with NM University, Mumbai for a two year full time MBA programme and JBIMS, Mumbai for certificate courses and with IIFM Bangalore. We also offer such programme to IIMA."  

Birla Institute of Management Technology was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, and supported by Birla group of companies. Dr. (Smt.) Sarala Birla, chairperson of Birla Academy and Syt. B K Birla, chairperson of B K Birla Group of companies are the founders of the business school.
