Only a day is left before the CAT 2014 exam to begin at 9.30AM on Nov 16, 2014 and as such the time to get you tested has arrived. MBAUniverse.com brings the important do’s for the D-day, shared by Prof. S.K. Agarwal, expert and seasoned CAT trainer.  It will also be quite helpful to visit the CAT website to familiarise yourself with the rules and regulations and how to attempt the CAT 2014 in the examination hall.  Please attend to the following guidelines, before getting ready for the examination.

No pre test tutorial: Familiarise yourself with CAT 2014 Navigation tools in advance

Prior to the examination day, you should devote half an hour to go through the navigation tools and Practice Test available on CAT Website www.iimcat.ac.in.  Please note that this practice Test is full length and has modified navigation pattern.

It is very important to become well versed with the navigation tools, so read and understand the guidelines given in the practice test especially how to use all the buttons; how to know the status of the question; how to answer a question; how to mark it for review; how to change the answer; how to go to next section; how to view the entire test paper in one go without wasting time on individual question and many more.

It is important also to understand the 4 colour symbols on the screen which indicate the status of the question on the right hand side of question-answer screen in different colours. Green will indicate the Answered question; Red will show the unanswered question; White will remind that Question is not viewed and Violet will show that Question is marked for review.

Just like the real examination, you will find the timer clicking on the right hand upper corner of your screen in the practice test also. It will be the reminder to the time constraints in the test.  Practicing this test before hand, will make you more confident and will save your time in the examination hall as well.

Keep the Required Documents ready

Keep the documents ready as they will allow you to enter the examination hall- your admit card, photo id  and address proof as advised in your admit card and on CAT 2014 site.  Take a print out of the downloaded Admit card.   Read the instructions given on your Admit card. Affix your recent photograph in the space provided on the Admit card. As per the instructions the photograph should be similar to one as appears on your Admit card.  You will have to sign on the admit card before the invigilator in the CAT 2014 testing room.

In case you do not have the id and address proof or have misplaced it, you should immediately  go to a notary near your place with one passport size photograph and a non judicial stamp paper worth Rs. 10/-; get the affidavit prepared  ( Amount may vary from state to state to get the Affidavit prepared)  and the job is done.  Affidavit format is available on CAT website home page on the icon ‘Candidate identification Affidavit’.  In addition to this, if SC/ST and/or DA documents are required, make sure they are with you as per the instructions in the above website.

Please remember you will have to carry your admit card and photo ID proof documents to the CAT 2014 exam centre. No other documents, articles will be allowed inside the testing room.
