After taking decision to revamp its PGP, PGP-FABM and FABM programmes, yet more innovations are in the offing to be brought by the top rated B school in India IIM Ahmedabad to its various management programmes with effect from admission session 2015-16.

The undisputed no. 1 B school of India has brought good news for CAT 2014 takers that their seats will not be shared by foreign students in admission 2015. IIMA has decided to introduce supernumerary seats for foreign nationals from admission session 2015-16.

More seats in admission session 2015-16

IIMA will now offer seats over its present capacity to foreign students who want to join the PGP course. “Our objective is to get quality foreign students to bring in diversity, and also to position the institute as a global learning destination for management students,” said Prof. Ajay Pandey, Dean Programs, IIMA.

With the increase in intake by adding the supernumerary seats, CAT 2014 takers and IIMA aspirants will be benefitted with the more number of seats available for them. So far the total intake in PGP programme at IIMA has remained 394. From the admission session 2015-16 the addition of Supernumerary seats will mean that these seats will be over and above the existing intake in the flagship PGP Programme at IIM Ahmedabad.

PGP at IIMA: admission fight is tough

Post Graduate Programme (PGP) at IIM Ahmedabad is the most sought after 2 years full time flagship programme. Indian Nationals seeking admission in PGP batch 2015-17 at IIMA will be shortlisted for final admission round on the basis of their high CAT 2014 scores. IIMA shortlisting process will consider high overall as well as sectional percentile in CAT 2014. Other important shortlisting criteria for PGP 2015 admission are excellent academic record, work experience, gender and academic diversity.

The shortlisting process is divided in 5 categories at IIMA. Candidates from  General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, DA categories are separately shortlisted. In order to recognize the exceptional performers in each of these 5 categories across diverse academic background, IIMA identifies top 50 candidates or 1% of total applicants who apply to IIMA, whichever is lower and directly shortlists them for final admission round.  CAT 2014 will however be the sole criteria for shortlisting the candidates.

Components of Final admission round at IIM Ahmedabad constitute Written Ability Test(WAT) and Personal Interaction(PI) on the basis of which final admission offer is made to the candidates.
