AICTE site displays number of B schools that are supposed to accept CMAT 2015 second test scores.  AICTE while displaying these top B schools declares  The list of AICTE approved institutions which will be using CMAT scores for admission in management programmes for 2015-16 can be viewed by clicking on the below link
AICTE approved institutions using CMAT scores”.

Going by this list of AICTE approved institutions using CMAT scores, if the CMAT 2015 second test takers score good marks, they may explore admission opportunities in such B schools. But the admission process of these B schools tells a different story according to which the aspirants should be on their guard before applying to these institutes as many of them may not accept CMAT 2015 second test scores. For example B schools like JBIMS, SPJIMR, IMI, FORE, CIMP despite being present in AICTE list wouldn’t accept CMAT 2015 scores.

CMAT 2015: Registration is Open

Registration and application process for CMAT 2015 second test is open and according to AICTE the process will close on January 5, 2015, a day after XAT 2015 is over on January 4, 2015. This will enable the candidates to decide whether they should apply for second test of CMAT 2015 going to be held in the month of February 2015 to improve their scores further. The CMAT 2015 second test scores facilitate the applicants to apply in such good B schools who accept CMAT scores along with the CAT and XAT scores.

CMAT is one of the largest management entrance tests after CAT and XAT. Around 1 lakh candidates are expected to register for CMAT February 2015. Apart from B schools that are going to accept CAT/XAT scores, there are other leading B schools who accept CMAT scores. Good marks in CMAT Feb 2015 exam will offer participants ample scope to get admitted into some of the highly ranked university and private B schools in the country.

The on-line Registration process for second CMAT 2015 was opened on November 6, 2014 and will continue till January 5, 2015, just a day after XAT 2015 is over on January 4, 2015. The CMAT 2015 second test will be conducted from Feb 19 to Feb 22, 2015,

B schools to use better of 2 CMAT scores

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will conduct Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2015 to select suitable students for admission in management programmes for academic year 2015-16. Like earlier years, AICTE has provided the candidates two opportunities to appear in CMAT for admission to session commencing 2015. The first CMAT was conducted in September, 2014 from Sep 25 to 28, 2014 while the registration for the Second CMAT 2015 has opened on November 6, 2014. The better of two scores in both the CMAT exams will be taken into account for admission for PGDM/MBA batch 2015-17.

Don’t get misguided by the list

AICTE has already announced on its website the list of B schools who are supposed to accept CMAT scores.  But number of top rated B schools in the list of AICTE approved institutions using CMAT scores available on AICTE site may not accept the CMAT 2015 scores.

It is not important when AICTE chooses to update its list of B schools accepting CMAT scores, the importance is of the fact that the candidates, if they apply to these B schools, pay the application fee and at the later stage find that their time, energy and money have been wasted since these B schools wouldn’t accept CMAT 2015 scores, what they should do then?  Does the responsibility lie with AICTE or the B school? In the tug of war, this is the career of the applicant that comes at stake while the fixation of onus of responsibility lingers on.

It is difficult to assume and ascertain that the list is updated for admission session 2015-16. The question whether the list of AICTE approved institutions also means the list of institutions accepting CMAT scores is an important big issue. In fact it is not necessary for the B school to accept CMAT score for admission even if the respective PGDM/MBA programme is approved by AICTE.

The top few B schools: Not accepting CMAT scores

Now relying on the AICTE list, if the candidate applies to the B school, pays the application fee, appears in CMAT 2015 second test, scores high in the exam, and to his dismay he finds that the B school will not shortlist the candidates on the basis of CMAT 2015 scores, how disheartened he will be? Rest assured AICTE will also not be able to reply satisfactorily.

Out of many, following few B schools, despite being present in AICTE list are not going to accept CMAT 2015 second test scores. Please be careful when you apply to these B schools

IMI New Delhi: Not accepting CMAT scores

Name of  International Management Institute, New Delhi appears at the serial numbers 55 to 59 at the AICTE link

http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/MGMT/DELHI_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 .  IMI New Delhi, one of the highly ranked B schools, according to AICTE is one of the approved institutions  that would accept CMAT scores for admission 2015.

IMI New Delhi admission application process, on the other hand says that it would accept only CAT 2014 and GMAT scores to shortlist the candidates for their flagship PGDM admission batch 2015-17. IMI New Delhi  wouldn’t accept XAT 2015, CMAT 2015 second test , MAT or any other scores for admission 2015. The admission application process at IMI is open till January 7, 2015.

FORE, New Delhi: No CMAT scores

Name of FORE school of Management, Delhi appears at the serial numbers 9 to 15 on AICTE site at the link

http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/MGMT/DELHI_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 . While AICTE claims that the B school would accept CMAT scores, the admission process of FORE sings a different song.

The highly ranked B school will accept CAT 2014 scores and not the CMAT scores. There is not even a remote mention in FORE admission process 2015 that it could accept CMAT scores but the AICTE has included the B school in its list of the B schools using CMAT 2015 scores.

The admission application process at FORE is open and will remain open till December 15, 2014. If you have appeared in CAT 2014 you may apply for the PGDM batch 2015-17 at FORE school of Management before Dec 15.

JBIMS, Mumbai: No to CMAT 2015 scores

The name of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai one of the most sought after management institutes also appears in the list of AICTE approved B schools accepting CMAT scores at serial number 458 at the link  http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/MGMT/Maharashtra_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 . However for admission 2015 to its 2-year full time Masters in Management Studies (MMS) Programme, which is equivalent to a MBA, and M Sc (Finance) programme JBIMS will accept only CAT 2014 and MAH-CET 2015 scores. It has discontinued accepting CMAT scores. But no amendment is available on AICTE site.

JBIMS opened its admission process on Nov 5, 2014 and will close it on Jan 5, 2015. Thousands of the candidates prefer to apply for admission to MMS and MSc Finance programmes in JBIMS due to its good learning experience, low fee structure and high placement. A small mistake in knowing the accepted exam scores for admission 2015 may shatter the future prospects of the applicant.

In fact, JBIMS has now taken the shape of the autonomous B school. The admission process will now be administered by the institute instead of DTE Maharashtra for admission 2015.

If you are planning to apply to JBIMS on the basis of CMAT 2015 scores, you will be wasting your time and money. If you have appeared in CAT 2014 you may apply for admission to MMS, MSc Finance programmes at the B school.

SPJIMR, Mumbai: No CMAT scores accepted

SPJIMR, Mumbai is mentioned in the AICTE list at serial numbers 5 to 7 at the following link http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/MGMT/Maharashtra_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 .  The fact that SPJIMR didn’t accept the CMAT score earlier also has not yet prompted the AICTE to update its list.

SPJIMR, Mumbai is one of the top rated B schools in India. The admission application process to its flagship PGDM programme closed on December 1, 2014. The B school will accept CAT 2014 and XAT 2015 scores apart from GMAT scores. But the CMAT 2015 scores wouldn’t be accepted by this B school to shortlist the candidates for admission 2015.

LBSIM, New Delhi: Not accepting CMAT 2015 scores

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) New Delhi is also one of the renowned B schools in Delhi. Its name appears at serial number 19 to 22 at the following link on AICTE site http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/MGMT/DELHI_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 . But LBSIM admission eligibility and process declares the acceptance of CAT 2014 scores. CMAT 2015 scores will not be accepted by LBSIM as the admission process clarifies. The registration process is open till December 14, 2014 at LBSIM. Those who appeared in CAT 2014 can apply to LBSIM.

CIMP, Patna: No to CMAT yes to CAT

Name of ChandraGupta Institute of Management Patna appears at Serial no 9 at the following AICTE link

http://www.aicteindia.org/downloads/MGMT/BIHAR_MGMT.pdf#toolbar=0 .

According to AICTE the B school is one the AICTE approved B schools using CMAT scores.

On the other hand CIMP admission 2015 process for its PGDM programme 2015-17 has clarified that it would accept only CAT 2014 scores to shortlist the candidates for final admission round. The admission application process at CIMP is proposed to close on December 15, 2014. Only a week is left to apply for admission 2015 at CIMP.

Piquant situation: How to get over the confusion

Most of these B schools will close their admission application process shortly as is shared above. In case applicants remain confused they will miss the bus. In fact AICTE has no clear and specific list of B schools accepting CMAT scores or the list is not properly updated.

If you wish to apply to any of the above B schools or any other B school for admission 2015, it will be better to visit and understand the detailed admission criteria of the particular institute instead of relying on the list available on AICTE site. Please remember once you pay the application fee, it may not be refunded.
