Good news from IIMs for the CAT 2014 takers is that the CAT 2014 results are going to be announced shortly preferably by Dec 20 or 21 before the 3 week in Dec 2014 ends. Quickly responding to the MBAUniverse.com query on the announcement of the CAT 2014 result, Dr Rohit Kapoor Faculty IIM Indore and CAT 2014 Convener says “We are in the activity of processing the results. Final checks are also underway.”
CAT 2014: Result under process
The activity of processing the CAT 2014 result has already begun and the fate of 1.70 lakh CAT 2014 takers is being processed by CAT Centre 2014. Since the final checks are going on it may take another 1-2 weeks to declare the CAT 2014 result by the IIMs.

Not getting quite convinced what to convey to thousands of CAT 2014 takers who are anxious about the date of declaration of CAT 2014 results, MBAUniverse.com again raised the query to CAT 2014 convener Dr Rohit Kapoor about the date of CAT 2014 result, Dr Kapoor has further replied “As far as dates are concerned, we will shortly announce it on our website. Request the candidates to wait for now.”
The message is very clear now that the candidates should expect the result on time although exact date of CAT 2014 result will be announced shortly by CAT centre 2014.
However, so far CAT Centre 2014 has not yet officially announced the result declaration date except for the fact that IIMs still stick to their commitment that the CAT 2014 result will be declared in the 3rd week of December 2014. There is no mention whether it will be the beginning of the 3rd week or the end date of the 3rd week of December 2014.

Nevertheless, as conveyed by Dr Rohit Kapoor it is for sure that during the last 2 weeks after conduct of CAT 2014 exam, CAT Centre 2014 has made a tremendous progress in processing of CAT 2014 result of 1.70 lakhs of the candidates who took CAT 2014 out of 1.97 lakh registered candidates.
The result appears to have been processed as final checks are going on. Candidates may shed their anxiety about the result declaration date and should wait for a few more days. In the meantime they may organize their documents like admit card, get their system updated to view and download the result immediately after declaration.

Gigantic task: Yet Expect the CAT 2014 result on time
It is not easy to equate and normalize the scores of lakhs of test takers in a short period of one month, that too when the CAT 2014 was conducted in 2 day test window instead of earlier 20 days. There was plenty of time available in past CAT years to equate, normalize and process the scores before declaration of CAT result. In past years, CAT exam used to begin in the middle of October and continued till the first week of November. Results used to be declared in January in the following year which means it took more than 2 months to process the CAT result.
On the other hand in CAT 2014 the testing window was short and result processing has also got a short span before declaration of result for almost same number of test takers as appeared in CAT 2013. Still CAT 2014 is proposed to be declared on time.
The queries of the CAT 2014 takers regarding the anticipated delay in declaration of CAT 2014 are duly addressed by the CAT 2014 convener and CAT 2014 may not expect any delay in declaration of CAT 2014 result.
One month late CAT 2014: Early Result
CAT Centre 2014 has already promised to declare the results at an early date as compared to earlier CAT exams. Results of past CAT exams were usually declared in the 2nd or 3rd week of January every year. This year for CAT 2014, the CAT Centre 2014 as well as the CAT 2014 conducting IIM had announced that the results would be declared in the 3rd week of December 2014. It was well received as the declaration of results was expected a month earlier for CAT 2014.
The move was welcomed by the CAT 2014 takers as well as the mentors as it would help the aspirants to decide their future course of action to explore admission opportunity and whether to appear in other management entrance exams for admission 2015. The promise of CAT 2014 result declaration, it appears is going to be kept by CAT Centre 2014 as shared by the CAT 2014 convener. Candidates shouldn’t be panicky now and may have a sigh of relief as there is no expected delay in result declaration.
