NEEV Symposium was based on the theme "LEAN TO WIN" with a focus on both the Manufacturing and Services aspects of Lean philosophy

IIM- Kashipur hosted the NEEV- the annual symposium on Operations Excellence on Nov 29, 2014 in the partnership with State Bank of India. The chief sponsors of the NEEV were India Glycols Limited and Punjab National Bank. The event started with the welcome address of Prof. Gautam Sinha, Director IIM Kashipur . Mr. Bishwambar Mishra Director, Mahindra Institute of Quality delivered the key note address.

The 3rd NEEV Symposium was based on the theme “LEAN TO WIN” with a focus on both the Manufacturing and Services aspects of Lean philosophy. The IIM Kashipur campus was graced with the presence of speakers who shared their experiences on the application of lean in day to day industrial practices.

Apart from Mr Mishra, Mr. Subroto Ghosh, Director and Head of performance improvement, Barclays; Mr. Vikas Sarangdhar, Director of research (Supply Chain group), Gartner; Mr. Rajesh Pednekar, Head distribution, Pfizer and Mr. Devdatta Ratnakar, Ex-CEO, Innoventive Industries Ltd. were the main speakers on the occasion.

Delivering the key note address and a presentation on ‘My experiments and exploration with lean’ Mr. Bishwambar Mishra shared with the students the rise of Punjab Tractors Ltd post Mahindra’s acquisition in 2007.

Mr. Subroto Ghosh, the second speaker further elaborated the concept of lean management in the services industry. The panel discussion involving Mr. Vikas Sarangdhar, Mr. Rajesh Pednekar and Mr. Devdatta Ratnakar with Prof. Kampan Mukherjee of IIM Kashipur as the moderator discussed the importance of quality, control and the application of lean in the industry.

A national level case study competition in partnership with Schneider Electric witnessed the participation of over 180 teams across India and top 5 teams presented their analysis to the judges in the event.
A session on the industry best practices was conducted by industries like Ashok Leyland, Mahindra and Minda group which witnessed the presence of over 70 from industries in and around Kashipur. . The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Kunal Ganguly of IIM Kashipur.

An IT Conclave was also conducted to act as platform for interaction between IIM Kashipur fraternity and corporate leaders from the IT Industry. The theme for panel discussion was “IT Industry - Challenges for future managers”. The speakers at the conclave included Mr. Manmohan Bhutani, VP, Fiserv Global Services; Mr. Vishal Singhal, VP, Kellton Tech solutions; Mr. Subrata Mandal, AVP, HCL Technologies and Mr. Sashikanth Mohanty, Region Head (APAJ), Hewlett Packard.

The keynote speech was given by Mr. Subrata Mandal, HCL Technologies and was followed by a panel discussion on the various challenges faced by the Managers in IT Industry.
IIM Kashipur is one of the 6 new IIMs in the IIM family and was established in 2011. The institute is centered near one of the densest industrialized regions of the country with a belt of 180 industries in and around Kashipur. The admission to its PGDM programme in 2015 will be  through CAT 2014 scores.

Although a new institute, IIM Kashipur witnesses esteemed recruiters across all the sectors during the placement session. The minimum cut off CAT 2014 percentile for explosing admission opportunity in flagship 2 year full time PGP programme at IIM Kashipur is 90. The B school gives additional weightage of 5 points for gender diversity while shortlisting the candidates.
