Despite all the slow down XAT 2015 has emerged again as a shining and one of the most favourite MBA/PGDM entrance tests for the session 2015 with 90 thousand aspirants registering for the exam to be held on January 4, 2015. Sharing the number Prof Munish Thakur, XAT 2015 convener and chairperson admission XLRI has confirmed “We received almost ninety thousand registration”.
XAT 2015: The second largest exam
Except for CAT 2014 which got registration from 1.97 lakh candidates no other MBA/PGDM exam could attract 90 thousand registrations for admission 2015. XAT 2015 has again proved to be the most favourite and largest management entrance test after CAT 2014. XAT 2014 received almost same number of registrations and for admission 2015, XAT 2015 beats the slow down again.
The registration for XAT 2015 was proposed to be closed on Nov 30, 2014 but since number of applicants couldn’t make payment due to certain technical problems on the last day, the registration was extended till Dec 8, 2014.
XLRI, the XAT conducting body of XAT 2015 extended the last date for XAT 2015 registration and application process initially from November 22 to November 30, 2014 and then from Nov 30 to Dec 8, 2014. XAT is the gateway for MBA/PGDM programmes in top rated B schools like XLRI, SPJIMR, XIMB, IMT, XISS and many others. XAT 2015 will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI on January 4, 2015, the first Sunday of New year of 2015. XLRI has been conducting Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for the last 60 years at All India level.
Time to apply to XLRI
XLRI clarifies “XAT is a common test for admission into academic programmes of XLRI and XAT Associate Member Institutes. If you are interested in XLRI or any other XAT Associate Member Institutes, you need to register and apply separately for the academic programmes of XLRI or to the institutes of your choice.” Admission aspirants to the B schools accepting XAT 2015 therefore, have to apply to the respective B school as per its admission process.

Registration for XLRI was started on Sep 2, 2014 and still thousands are there who wish to apply to this highly ranked B school but have not been able to do so due to one or other reason. Please note that the application process at XLRI is going to close on Dec 21, 2014 and it’s no use waiting for the last date as the last minute rush might be posed with technical glitches.
XAT 2015 Registration mandatory to Apply to XLRI
Please note XLRI accepts only XAT/GMAT scores. Scores of CAT/CMAT/MAT are not accepted by XLRI Jamshedpur. You must have registered for XAT 2015 to apply for admission in XLRI.
How to apply to XLRI
A candidate who has registered for XAT 2015 and has obtained XAT ID and password, had made the requisite payment and completed the XAT registration procedure can apply for admission in XLRI. The registration process is online for XLRI also.
After registering for XAT a candidate will be eligible to apply for XLRI programmes BM, HRM, Global MBA, GMP and FPM
Fee & Mode of payment
The fee for XLRI is Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) for all Candidates irrespective to any number of programmes. There are three possible options to make payment
Option 1: Online Payment Gateway is through VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards/ IDBI Net banking (this option is available only for IDBI account holder)
Option 2: Cash Payment can be made by taking a print out of the XLRI Pay-In-Slip. The candidate should visit nearest IDBI bank and make the payment.
Option 3: Payment by Demand Draft can be effected by getting a DD made in favour of “XLRI Programmes” payable at Jamshedpur.
Please note that the Candidate paying through option 2 & 3 should update the payment details in the registration page.
The candidate is supposed to print XLRI confirmation page and send along with the payment proof/Pay-in-slip/DD to the Admission Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur – 831001 within fifteen days from the date of payment or issuance of DD. Enclose the photo copies of 10th, 12th and graduation mark sheets.
Key points to note in XLRI application process
- The last date for receiving XLRI Registration Confirmation Page at XLRI is 26th December 2014.
- A candidate with recognized bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized university or a deemed university or the candidate in the final year of graduation is eligible for admission to XLRI. However the candidate needs to complete the final year examination by June 10, 2015.
- In case you lose the XLRI pay-in-slip which was stamped by IDBI bank you should go to the IDBI Bank Branch where you paid the XLRI charges with a copy of the XLRI printable page and request them to give you a photocopy of the pay-in-slip and put COPY along with bank's original seal and signature on it.
Shortlisting Criteria at XLRI
XLRI does not have any cut off based on any of the X, XII, graduation marks. The evaluation of candidates' academic competence will be evaluated holistically by XLRI based on candidates' performance in interview, group discussion and XAT written test.
