Declaration of CAT 2014 result on Dec 27, 2014 has brought more number of 100 percentilers and yet greater number of 99 percentilers. But the problem is that not all these high percentilers are shortlisted by IIMA for final admission round despite the fact that they have scored 99+ percentile. IIM A proposes to declare the first short list on Jan 2 “Short List of candidates to be called for AWT-PI for PGP 2015-17 is likely to be available on January 2, 2015”. The final admission round at IIMA will therefore include AWT, Academic Written Test and PI, Personal Interview.
The question haunting the mind of CAT 2014 takers with a percentile between 90 to 97 is - will only the 99+ percentilers be shortlisted for PI round or IIMA will leverage the CAT 2014 score considering other parameters.

In the first step of selection process at IIM Ahmedabad candidates are short-listed for Academic
Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid
CAT score and have applied for the programme. These candidates should satisfy the
eligibility criteria for the programme.

Academic Profile
You need to have excellent academic profile to be shortlisted for AWT-PI round at IIM
Ahmedabad. Your excellent academic profile can compensate for slightly low CAT 2014 scores
as well.
The weightage given to academic profile in shortlisting for final admission round at IIM A is
referred as Application Rating Score and can go upto 45 at the maximum level.

IIMA Shortlist: Calculationformula applied
IIMA has applied following formula to calculate Application Rating Score:
AR=0.5*A+1.5*B+2.5*C (Maximum Score for AR = 45)
For example if your percentage of marks in Xth, XII and graduation are consistently above 90
You get – 0.5+15+25=45 which is the maximum rating score that can be awarded to the
candidate in shortlisting for next phase of admission round.
The candidates who have excellent academic record with 90%+ marks and have scored high overall as well as sectional percentile in CAT 2014 are shortlisted by IIMA for admission to PGP 2015-17 batch.
A candidate with 99.8 percentile with low scores in one section and very high score in other section and having an academic record of 60+ marks since class 10 may not have been shortlisted by IIMA. It will be better to cross check your chances of getting shortlisted in case IIMA goes to declare yet second short list of candidates.
