IIM Calcutta (Kolkata) headed by its well learned Director Prof Saibal Chattopadhyay, is expected to declare the shortlist of candidates for next phase of admission round on January 5, 2015. According to IIM Caclutta, the “Shortlist of candidates to be called for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) for PGP-PGDM batch 2015-17 is likely to be available on January 5, 2015”.
Please note that IIM Ahmedabad has declared the shortlist of candidates for the Academic Written Test (AWT) & Personal Interview round (PI) today on January 2, 2015 for the next phase of admission round to its flagship PGP programme 2015-17.
IIM Calcutta will accept CAT 2014 scores to shortlist the candidates for final admission round. CAT 2014 result was declared around 5PM on Dec 27, 2014. The result has set precedent with more number of 100 and 99 percentilers in CAT 2014 as compared to earlier CAT exams. Accordingly it is expected that the threshold CAT 2014 cut off percentile in the shortlisting of candidates would be much higher than what is announced by IIM Calcutta in its admission policy 2015. All these high percentilers have great hope to pursue PGDM 2015-17 from IIM Calcutta especially those who are interested in finance domain.
Shortlisting the candidates is not based only on CAT 2014 scores. Apart from high CAT 2014 scores a candidate is required have excellent academic profile to get shortlisted for final admission round at IIMC.

If you are planning to explore admission opportunity in IIMC and wish to be shortlisted for PI & WAT round at IIM C, this top rated B school expects you to score a high sectional as well as overall percentile in CAT 2014. Any General Category candidate below a sectional percentile of 85 and overall percentile of 90 will not be considered to be shortlisted by IIMC. This in no way means that a candidate with above referred percentile will necessarily be considered for shortlisting. It is the bare minimum cut off CAT 2014 percentile needed to be shortlisted, the actual cut off percentile may go much higher.
Please also note that you may not be shortlisted at IIMC despite scoring a very high overall percentile but weak and uneven sectional percentile. Excellent academic record will also be required to get shortlisted at IIMC for final admission round.
Programmes at IIMC
IIM Calcutta offers following management programmes PGDM;.PGDCM;.PGPEX;.PGPEX-VLM and FP.
PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) and PGDCM (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management) are full time programs of two years duration.
PGPEX (Post Graduate Programme for Executives) is IIM Calcutta's one year full-time residential general management program for mid-carrier professionals.
PGPEX VLM (Post Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing) is a one year full time residential program designed for the manufacturing sector. The course is being conducted jointly by 3 premier institutes of India viz. IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras. FP (Fellow Program) is a research program whose duration depends on student performance and is about four years on an average.
Batch strength at IIMC
The strength of the batch varies from year to year, according to the institute requirements. Present first year batch is about 280. There are about 210 students in PGDM, 60 in PGDCM and 10-15 in FPM.
