"The results would be declared by January, 25th and we would start the interviews around 18th of February" Prof Munish Thakur, XLRI Admission Chairperson

Gearing up to announce the shortlist immediately after declaration of XAT 2015 result even before January 25, 2015, XLRI is all set to announce the shortlist of candidates for an intake of 510 candidates to various PGDM programmes 2015-17 on January 25.  In reply to a query on expected date of declaration of shortlist of candidates for GDPI round 2015, Prof Munish Thakur, Admission Chairperson XLRI  has shared that the “expected date is around 23rd-25th Jan 2015”.

Expect XAT 2015 result before Jan 25

Going by the assurance, XLRI aspirants who appeared in XAT 2015 should expect XAT 2015 result between January 23 to January 25, 2015 as earlier also Prof Thakur had shared that XAT 2015 result would be declared by January 25.  Since the statement is not emphasizing on the declaration of result on Jan 25 but by Jan 25, it implies that the result could be declared even before the shared date.

Besides, the expected date of declaration of shortlist as shared by Prof Munish Thakur is also between Jan 23 to 25, 2015 and this shortlist cannot be announced before declaration of XAT 2015 result, the expected date of XAT 2015 result therefore could be Jan 23, 2015 more than a week before the pre announced date of Jan 31, 2015.

GDPI to begin around Feb 18

The second stage of admission process, the GD/PI round at XLRI is to begin around Feb 18, 2015 for various PGDM programmes at XLRI. According to Prof Munish Thakur XAT 2015 convener and XLRI Admission Chairperson “The results would be declared by January, 25th and we would start the interviews around 18th of February.”

Shortlisting Criteria

The first stage shortlist after XAT 2015 result will be more or less based on XAT 2015 scores. The candidates who have scored high and balanced sectional percentile across all the sections in XAT 2015 can expect to be shortlisted by XLRI for second stage of admission, the PI round.

The shortlist will be announced based on the percentile scores in the first 3 sections of XAT 2015 namely Verbal  & Logical Ability; Decision making & Analytical reasoning; Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation for the first stage.

It is expected that candidates seeking admission to XLRI will need a minimum overall percentile of 98+ in XAT 2015 along with high sectional percentile.

Essay and GK: High Weightage in PI round

XLRI is going to award high weightage of 10% in GDPI round to Essay Writing and General Knowledge sections that formed the part of XAT 2015 written examination while arriving at the final admission merit list.

IN XAT 2015 written examination candidates were required to write an essay on the topic ‘Listening is a dying Art, we only listen to reply and revert and not to listen’. According to Prof S K Agarwal, Verbal Ability expert and mentor on MBA exam preparation there could be questions in PI round on what you have expressed in the subjective written essay.  So try to recall what you had written in XAT 2015 and form a few questions with probable answers on them. Please remember good questions could be formed on whatever you have written in the essay. Non preparation on this point could incur a loss of 5-10% weightage in final admission round which would mean losing the admission opportunity with a slight margin in XLRI.
