The announcement by DTE Maharashtra to conduct MAHCET 2015 on March 14 and 15, 2015 across the country for admission to MBA/MMS batch in Maharashtra B schools will provide a good opportunity for the candidates who wish to improve on their CAT 2014 scores. MAHCET 2015 will be the gateway to such MBA/MMS courses. The best part of MAHCET is that apart from accepting scores of all India management entrance tests like CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ ATMA/MAT, it provides yet another opportunity to MBA/MMS admission aspirants, to improve their scores with MAHCET.  If you score higher than any of the other above referred examinations, your better score will be taken into consideration in shortlisting process.

JBIMS to accept CAT & MAHCET scores only

Apart from Maharashtra domicile candidates, there are about 8-10 thousand seats available across Maharashtra for All India Candidates. In fact the highly ranked B school JBIMS in Mumbai will not accept any other score than MAH CET 2015 and CAT 2014 for admission session 2015.

While DTE Maharashtra will conduct the final admission round for many other B schools based on MAHCET 2015 scores and other All India entrance exam scores, the final admission round at JBIMS will be based on CAT 2014 and MAHCET 2015 scores. The B school will not accept other All India entrance exam scores. 
 
MAHCET 2015: Make good the lost opportunity

MAHCET could not be held in 2013 due to the ongoing legal battle on it and as such, the aspirants couldn’t get admission in their desired B schools in Maharashtra. The exam has begun to be conducted since 2014 and Year 2015 will make good the lost opportunity.  Thousands of candidates who have not been able to score high in CAT 2014 will have yet another chance to improve their scores and explore admission opportunity in the B schools of Maharashtra on the basis of MAHCET 2015 scores.

No fear of negative marking

There is no fear of losing marks on account of getting penalty for any wrong answer since MAHCET doesn’t penalize for incorrect answers. It therefore is a rare opportunity coming from MAHCET 2015, for those who wish to secure admission in good management institute but couldn’t score well in any other All India test.  
 
Composition of MAHCET

200 MCQs in MAHCET will be divided in three sections namely Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; Quantitative Aptitude –Data interpretation; Logical and Abstract reasoning. These questions are to be answered in 150 minutes. The test has no negative marking. The number of questions per section are not fixed and may have equal or different proportion.

Section 1: VERBAL ABILITY AND READING COMPREHENSION.

VARC will test you how well you know usage of English language. You can expect passages with questions based on their contents to test your ability of comprehension. Questions on grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, will be a part of this section to test the language skill.

Section 2: QUANTITATIVE APTITUTDE

This section will test your calculation skill. Quant & DI test will assess your fast and accurate working ability with numbers,  numerical calculations and understanding of  various arithmetic problems like ratio and proportion, percentage, etc. This test is also designed to measure your power of quantitative reasoning, interpretation of tables, common graphs and charts.

Section 3: LOGICAL/ABSTRACT REASONING

To solve the problems in this section, it is very important to practice and develop natural logical instincts. Logical and Abstract reasoning is going to test you on quick and accurate thought process. This test will have questions based on figures and diagrams and also questions on verbal reasoning.
 
Equal weightage questions

All questions have equal weightage, you can attempt the difficult ones in next round of the attempt, if time permits. Besides, guesses can be made in the last round. Although there is no negative marking DTE Maharashtra advises against making too many guesses as it may bring bad impact in final admission round.
 
Registration yet to open

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra has although clarified that the Common Entrance Test for admission to MBA/MMS/PGDM/PGDBM courses 2015-16 in the AICTE approved B schools will be an online test and will be conducted on Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15, 2015, the registration and application process for MAH-CET 2015 is yet to be opened.

Since there are still about 2 months left for the MAHCET 2015 exam, the registration process is going to be announced in a day or two by DTE Maharashtra. Candidates are advised to register at the earliest.

Mandatory Registration: May or may not appear in test

You may appear or may not appear for MAHCET 2015, it is your choice. But to be considered for admission in any of the Maharashtra B schools, and to be considered for MMS course at the B school with DTE regulated fee structure, it is mandatory to register for MAHCET 2015 so that your All India exam scores can be taken into consideration. In case you wish to appear in MAHCET 2015 exam as well, you can sure do so with no additional fee to be paid for the same.
