`Apart from 65% weightage to XAT 2015 scores 35% weightage would be awarded to various components of GDPI`- Prof Munish Thakur, XLRI Admission Chairperson

Sharing exclusively with MBAUniverse.com, Prof Munish Thakur, and Admission Chairperson XLRI has informed “The results would be declared by January, 25th and we would start the interviews around 18th of February”. In response to yet another query about the assigned weightage to various components of GDPI round at XLRI, Prof Thakur has shared that ‘apart from 65% weightage to XAT 2015 scores 35% weightage would be awarded to various components of GDPI’.

Result of XLRI -Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2015 is about to be declared before Jan 25, 2015. The timely declaration of result will open the gates of XLRI and other top rated associated B schools going to accept XAT 2015 scores. It is expected that the first stage shortlist at XLRI for admission 2015 in this highly ranked B school would have cut off at 98+ percentile with high sectional cut off. As regards the date of declaration of shortlist of candidates for GDPI round 2015 at XLRI, Prof Thakur shares that the “expected date would be around 23rd-25th Jan 2015”.

Weightage in GDPI round

The approximate weightage  to various components in GDPI round at XLRI, as advised by XLRI Admission Chairperson,  is supposed to remain as detailed below.  However, according to Prof Munish Thakur ‘this weightage  can change, but we would announce the changed criterion before GD/PI Process’. Before offering final admission in 2015, XLRI is going to assess the candidates on various parameters in GDPI round

XAT 2015 score: 65% weightage

The final admission round  at XLRI will award a weighatge of 65% to XAT 2015 scores. In fact the weighatge criteria in XLRI is much different from IIMs where the role of CAT scores becomes  less than 50% in final admission round.

Essay Writing & GK: 10% Weightage

A 5+5% weightage to each of the 2 components Essay and GK will be awarded in GDPI round at XLRI for admission 2015. Essay Writing and General Knowledge sections formed the part of XAT 2015 written examination. The 10% weightage can turn the table in offering you admission at XLRI or depriving you of the same.

In XAT 2015 written exam candidates were required to write an essay on the topic ‘Listening is a dying Art, we only listen to reply and revert and not to listen’ in XAT 2015. One should now recall what he/she had written in Essay as according to Prof S K Agarwal, Verbal Ability expert and mentor on MBA exam preparation there could be questions in PI round on what you have expressed in the subjective written essay.

Academic Profile & Work experience: 5% weightage

If you have excellent academic profile with 85+% marks right from class 10th onwards and have 2-3 years of relevant work experience, XLRI will give you an edge with 5% weightage points in GDPI round.

GDPI: 20% Weightage

Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be the key components at XLRI final admission round 2015. The top rated B school will award a maximum weightage of 20% to the performance of the candidate in GD & PI.  Besides, weightage to gender diversity will also be included in the overall weightage of 20% awarded for the performance in GDPI.

GDPI round: To begin from Feb 18

According to Prof Munish Thakur “We would start the interviews around 18th of February”. It is likely that you may get your PI date at IIM and XLRI overlapped.  Please therefore check for the dates, connect to the respective B school in time to get it changed, if required.

XLRI: Intake 2015

XLRI has an intake of 510 candidates to various PGDM programmes 2015-17. The B school offers following full time key management programmes
PGDM (BM) with 180 seats; PGDM (HRM) with 180 seats; PGDM (GM) with 120 seats; PGDM (Global MBA) with 30 seats.

Apart from the top rated B schools like XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT, XISS,  TAPMI, LIBA  more than 100 B schools will offer admission on the basis of XAT 2015 scores.
