Even after a week of registering the personal details with DTE Maharashtra, the candidates going to appear in MAHCET 2015 on March 14 & 15, 2015 have not been allowed to complete their registration process
The slow pace of DTE Maharashtra is creating panic among the aspiring candidates whether DTE would be able to complete the registration process before the scheduled date of exam

A week ago DTE Maharashtra published in public domain on its site to ‘Register your name to Receive Notifications Regarding Admission Schedule’ of various courses including MBA/MMS 2015-17. MBA aspirants seeking admission in Maharashtra B schools have already registered their names but are still waiting to receive the notification as promised by DTE Maharashtra.

Registration completion: Mercy of DTE

How great it is that these candidates are supposed to complete their registration and application process for MAHCET 2015 to be held on March 14 & 15, 2015 across the country only after DTE Maharashtra directs them to do so.

Despite its commitment that ‘The Directorate shall send alert through SMS and E-Mail to the Candidates’ Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra has not been able to provide the Login ID and Password to the candidates who have registered in accordance with the instructions of DTE Maharashtra even after the lapse of a week since the process of registration has started.

Undue delay: Only a month to exam

DTE Maharashtra has categorically stated that “Aspiring Candidates are hereby informed to register their Name”. Candidates have been waiting to receive the necessary revert from DTE Maharashtra after registering their personal profile with DTE Maharashtra but nothing has so far been received by them either as SMS on their Mobile or on their mail ID.

DTE Maharashtra has also not provided any Login ID and Password to enable the candidates to proceed with the further process of registration and application. DTE Maharashtra has confirmed that “The system shall allow registering the Candidate by validating the Mobile Number”. It is surprising to note that even after a week of registering the personal details with DTE Maharashtra, the candidates going to appear in MAHCET 2015 on March 14 & 15, 2015 have not been allowed to complete their registration process.

Slow DTE creating panic

DTE Maharashtra has asked for the personal information to register and committed that further details, alerts and notifications regarding the MAH-CET 2015 would be conveyed to the candidates through SMS and E-mails to the candidates. Now there is neither any notification nor any alerts till date.

The slow pace of DTE Maharashtra is creating panic among the aspiring candidates whether DTE would be able to complete the registration process before the scheduled date of exam or the exam dates would be postponed. DTE Maharashtra conducts exam for number of courses and thousands of candidates appear in each of the exams. The way DTE Maharashtra is moving indicates one of the 2 things – the first either DTE has taken for granted that very few candidates would register and appear in MAHCET 2015 for admission to MBA/MMS 2015-17 batch and hence there is no hurry to open the complete registration process; Or DTE plans to postpone the MAHCET 2015 examination schedule.

45000 MBA/MMS seats in Maharashtra; Delay causing fading charm

With the consistent dip in number of registered candidates and actual number of test takers in various other most sought after national MBA/PGDM entrance exams held in 2014 & 2015 like CAT 2014/XAT 2015/CMAT 2015 (first test) and the approaching CMAT 2015 (second test), it is very much possible that fewer number of candidates may register and appear for MAHCET 2015.  On the top of it, more IIMs with more number of seats and other top rated B schools increasing their intake, may also adversely affect the registration for MAHCET 2015.

In admission session 2014-15 many seats in B schools across Maharashtra remained vacant. Instead of learning lessons from the past experience when DTE Maharashtra had to reopen its Centralized Admission Process (CAP) after the closing date, DTE is deliberately avoiding higher number of registrations due to avoidable delay in finalizing the registration process in 2015.

The fall out of delay in MAHCET 2015 registration

Most of the highly ranked and good B schools have announced their shortlists for PI round. Candidates in the next few days could finalize the admission in their preferred B schools. They then wouldn’t go for MAHCET 2015 registration process once they begin seeking admission opportunities in other states’ B schools.

High percentilers of CAT/XAT/CMAT will sure get shortlisted and will explore the admission possibility in their preferred B school and may not wait for the MAHCET 2015. This again will cause compromising with the quality of intake in Maharashtra B schools.

In case DTE doesn’t wake up and moves fast on the registration front it is quite possible that instead of getting sufficient number of registrations for MAHCET 2015, the number of registrations could be less than the number of seats available in the B schools. Apart from low registrations, the cost of conducting the exam may also go up due to the delay and low registration number.

Time to publish complete notification

In view of the current scenario and keenness among the MBA aspirants to register and apply for MAHCET 2015 to explore admission opportunity in good B schools in Maharashtra, DTE Maharashtra should publish the complete notification as it did in 2014 in the month of January 2014.  This will attract better number of registrations else DTE might have to satisfy itself with a very low number of registrations and later might have to search for the excuses.

Need to immediately open Dedicated Online system

According to DTE Maharashtra “The aspiring candidate shall follow the process of admission through the dedicated Online Application System”. It means the registration will be Online only. However this Dedicated Online Registration process has not yet been opened nor could the candidates by any means know when it would be opened unless informed by DTE Maharashtra.

All the top rated MBA entrance exams open their registration process 2-3 months before the exam and DTE Maharashtra also did the same in 2014. But in 2015 the delay in opening the online system could result in fewer registrations in comparison to 2014. In the interest of B schools in Maharashtra and in its own interest DTE Maharashtra should immediately enable the Dedicated Online system of registration for MAHCET 2015.

DTE has already announced the entrance exam dates of MAH-CET 2015 for MBA/MMS 2015-17 batch in various B schools in Maharashtra on March 14 & 15, 2015. Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra has officially issued the notification bearing ref no. 2A/ADM/MBA-MCA/CET/2015/48 dated January 8, 2015. Now the delay in registration/application process is not at all desirable.
