IIM Bangalore Final Placement 2015 concludes; sees 150+ recruiters with 450 offers

IIM Bangalore successfully concluded the placement 2015 on Feb 13, for the PGP 2013-15 class with 100% placement for a batch of 398 students. More offers from more recruiters with higher packages stole the show. Consulting, Financial Services and E-Commerce Firms made large number of offers in the placement at IIM Bangalore.

 

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) witnessed the participation of the top recruiters across all sectors in the Final Placement season for the PGP class of 2013-15. 

 

The industry reinstated its faith in IIM Bangalore as past recruiters along with more new recruiters took part in the placement process 2015. The unique feature in the process was the diversity of profiles offered to the students which gave them a good choice in terms of industry and the role.

 

Key Trends in placement 2015

 

IIM Bangalore has a consistent record of excellent placement. 398 eligible students out of the PGP class of 2013-15 at this highly ranked B school participated in the placement process 2015 to pursue placement opportunities. 5 students from the batch of 2015 opted to sign out from the Final Placements this season.

 

Students were offered roles in BFSI, consultancy, IT/ITES, strategy, corporate sustainability services, E-commerce consulting, Business development and analysis and many more.
 
 More recruiters with more offers

 

A total of 150+ recruiters participated in the Final Placements 2015 at IIM Bangalore. More than 450 Offers across 200 profiles were made to 398 students participating in the placement process 2015.

 

More PPOs

 

There were 134 Pre-Placement offers extended to the students before the start of the final placement based on their performance during the summer internship.

 

High Lateral Placement

 

The Lateral Placement season for candidates with more than 22 months of work experience saw a total of 156 offers being made by firms in varied domains like Consulting, Business Leadership, Product Management, Operations, Category Management, and General Management.

 

This was about 25% higher than the Laterals offers made last year.

 

International Placement

 

25 students were offered international placements from various firms for global locations.

 

Top National & International Recruiters

 

A host of Indian banks and financial institutions such as Kotak Investment Bank, ICICI Securities, ICICI Prudential, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, and Edelweiss made offers during the Placement process.
 
IIMB played host to most big international banks such as the Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Citibank on the first day of the Final Placements.

 

The Placement 2015 process also saw the participation of Avendus Capital and American Express. Private Equity/Venture Capital roles by Catamaran Ventures and Brand Capital were offered to the students. Germany based Incubator Rocket Internet continued to hire exclusively from IIM Bangalore for the second time offering international roles.

 

Domainwise placement: 30% batch placed in consulting

 

In the consulting domain, The Boston Consulting Group made 16 offers, Mckinsey & Co. and Accenture Management Consulting with 11 offers were the top recruiters this year.

 

Around 30% of the entire batch  received offers in the consulting sector, which also included reputed names like Bain & Company, Strategy&, A T Kearney, Roland Berger, Alvarez & Marsal. Arthur D Little and PRTM Consulting also hired from IIM Bangalore this time. Other prominent recruiters in this   space were EXL, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

 

General Management

 

Conglomerates such as Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Reliance Industries Ltd, Mahindra Group, CK Birla, Larsen & Toubro, Siemens and General Electric recruited in significant numbers for leadership and General Management roles.

 

Sales & Marketing

 

Many students also chose to go to Sales and Marketing functions, and were extended offers by major consumer goods and services firms. Major recruiters in this category were P&G, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Mondelez International, Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Reckitt Benckiser, Johnson & Johnson, Marico and Asian Paints. Telecom majors Vodafone and Bharti Airtel also made a number of offers in this domain. The major retail firm from Middle East-Alshaya-also recruited in good numbers this year.

 

IT & E-commerce

 

Prominent recruiters in the technology space included Microsoft, Google, Samsung and Infosys. In the IT consulting domain, all prominent recruiters like IBM and Capgemini visited the campus.

 

The E-Commerce space saw heightened interest with Amazon and Snapdeal making 17 offers each, which incidentally were the highest offers by any individual firm. Other prominent E-Commerce recruiters included Flipkart, Urban Ladder, AskmeBazaar, Hopscotch, CarTrade, Proptiger, Quickr, Commonfloor and Ola Cabs.

 

Sharing his views on successful placement season 2015, Professor Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore said "The 2015 Final Placements were extremely well received and supported by all participating organisations. The entire process was smooth and organised given the large number of companies participating each day. We are thankful to all recruiters once again for reposing their faith in IIMB and recruiting in large numbers".
