CMAT 2015: Don`t get puzzled with navigation tools; candidates on first day making mistakes

Number of candidates coming out of the testing room after going through their CMAT 2015 second test on Feb 19, 2015 complained that they made mistakes in using the navigation tools either due to their ignorance or due to not understanding them well. If you are not well aware how to use the navigation tools in the computer based exam, all your hard preparation and answer marking process may go futile without yielding any fruitful result. Please therefore understand well what these navigation tools are and how they should be used before going to attempt the CMAT 2015 second test in next 2-3 days.

 

CMAT 2015 second test like earlier CMAT exams is a computer based test. The test is slightly different from the paper pen based test. You are supposed to move quickly and accurately to read the questions, mark your answers and modify them as and when needed. Once you finalize your answer, it may not be possible for you to change the same, please note.

 

Following are the navigation tools in CMAT 2015 second test that need to be well understood before proceeding to attempt the exam.

 

Start the Test
There will be number of instructions before beginning the test, they should be understood and followed before clicking on the Start the Test button. This button will function at the test starting time.

 

Next
This button will take you to the next question.

 

Previous
This button will take you to the previous question

 

Flag
If you wish to mark a question for review later, you can use this button. Please remember to unflag these answers before submitting the test.

 

Unflag
Please remember to click on unflag button when you have reviewed the answer to the ‘flagged’ question.

 

Deselect
If you want to deselect the answer, you have already marked, you are supposed to use this button. This will allow you to delete the particular answer option.

 

Submit
When you complete the test in all respect, you are supposed to click on the submit button. This will finally submit the completed test for evaluation.

 

Understand the 4 colours
The computer screen during the CMAT 2015 second test exam will have 4 different coloured boxes indicating and helping to remind you of the action proposed to be taken before submission of the test

 

Light Greenish Blue
The Box indicates the questions which have not been attempted by the candidate. It also prompts the candidate to attempt the questions which have been left unattempted knowingly or unknowingly.

 

Light Greenish Blue with black quarter circle on top left
This coloured box indicates that the questions are not attempted but are flagged. The candidate has not marked any answer to these questions and has flagged them for review later.

 

White colour
White coloured box indicates the attempted questions by the candidate. It will help the candidate to periodically understand the number of questions out of 100 questions he or she has attempted.

 

White colour with black quarter circle on top left
This will indicate that the questions have been attempted but are flagged for review later. It is advisable that candidate should review these questions well within time and unflag them by clicking on unflag button.

 

Time management during CMAT 2015 (second test)
There will be a clock ticking on the computer screen during the CMAT 2015 second test indicating the time left to complete the test.

 

Since there is no restriction to toggle among the 4 sections of CMAT exam, the timer will help you to divide your time in a balanced manner among all the 4 sections, instead of devoting all the time to one or two sections.
