CAT 2013 takers who were not satisfied with the scoring and score normalization process in CAT 2013 result, declared on Jan 14, 2014 preferred to air their grievances by filing court cases against CAT conducting IIMs. Out of 1.73 lakhs CAT 2013 test takers, there were more than 90000 candidates in CAT 2013 who scored zero or less marks. Responding to the Court notices issued to all stake holders IIMs, Prometric and MHRD, IIMs had clarified their stand on score normalization process adopted in CAT 2013. Getting satisfied with the response from IIMs, the Indore bench of Hon’ble High of Madhya Pradesh has found it suitable to dismiss all the cases filed with it.

Common Admission Test (CAT) exam is a yearly exercise conducted by the Indian Institutes Management (IIMs) for admission to their various management programmes like PGP, PGPM and for the MBA/PGDM programmes offered by other top rated B schools in the country. CAT 2013 and CAT 2014 were convened by IIM Indore. While CAT 2013 was held from October 16, 2013 to November 11, 2013, CAT 2014 was summed up only in a 2 day test window on Nov 16 & 22, 2014. CAT 2013 results were announced on January 14, 2014 and CAT 2014 results were announced on Dec 27, 2014.

IIMs also moved forward to change their testing partner Prometric who remained their ally as a testing agency from 2009 to 2013 and hired the services of new testing partner Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) for next 5 years w e f CAT 2014 exam that brought with it many substantial changes. CAT 2014 not only shortened the testing window but despite being held a month late than earlier CAT exams, was also able to declare the result on Dec 27, 2014, more than a fortnight earlier than previous CAT exams.

CAT 2015 is going to be convened by IIM Ahmedabad and the exam is expected to bring even more changes in 2015.
