The final placement season at the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai is yet to begin in began in February 2008.

Yet more than 45% of the batch has already bagged Pre Placement Offers and Pre-Placement Interviews (PPOs/PPIs) from their dream companies.

This year has seen a marked increase in the pre placement offers made by companies at JBIMS. Comparing this year's PPO's/PPIs with last year JBIMS informed MBAUniverse.com, "As opposed to 30% last year, 45% of the students have already received PPOs and PPIs and the offers are still pouring in. There is a 50% increase over last year."

According to JBIMS, "A significant feature of this year's trend is that offers are pouring in from all sectors." Leading FMCGs, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing companies and Consulting majors have made offers to students who had interned at their companies during their summer internships.

The FMCG sector was led by HUL, Nestle, Dabur, L'Oreal, Perfetti, Britannia, etc while leading financial institutions like HSBC, Citibank, Kotak Mahindra, Axis Bank, SBI Capital made their presence felt with PPIs and PPOs. Says JBIMS, "The technology sector was once again at the forefront of PPOs with Cognizant Technology Services and Wipro Technologies making attractive offers." Mindtree consulting was one of the consulting majors to make an offer.

There have also been cases where offers were made to students who had not interned at the company. Said JBIMS, "A second year MMS student bagged an attractive offer from a leading cosmetics company on the basis of his performance at an international contest organised by it." On the same lines, two students bagged PPIs from Nestle during the Nestle Kit-Kat Kampus day hosted by JBIMS.

'The overwhelming response from corporates and their keenness to catch them before someone else does, clearly reflects the superior competency levels of the current batch of JBIMS and is a testament to the pedagogy of the institute', said Professor Stephen D'Silva, the Placement Co-ordinator at JBIMS.

'This is a win-win situation both for the companies and the students. The recruiters already know the candidates and their calibre, while the student knows the work culture and opportunities available for him in the company', said Kirang Tanna, a member of the Placement Committee.
