There are premium B schools still open with their admission application and accepting CMAT Feb 2015 scores
CMAT Feb 2015 takers should judiciously choose the right B school with their scores after applying various pros & cons but should not confine them within any regional boundaries

Now since the result of CMAT Feb 2015 exam for admission session 2015-16 (PGDM batch 2015-17) has been declared by AICTE on March 25, 2015, candidates should be aware which B schools they should approach with their scores. There are premium B schools still open with their admission application and accepting CMAT Feb 2015 scores. All of these B schools offer AICTE approved regular and specialized MBA/PGDM programmes.

In view of Prof S K Agarwal mentor on CMAT preparation, CMAT Feb 2015 takers should judiciously choose the right B school with their scores after applying various pros & cons but should not confine them within any regional boundaries as good B schools offering admission on CMAT scores exist across the country. Prof Agarwal shares following tips for the MBA aspirants to clarify on how they can utilize the CMAT scores to get admission in good B schools.

Check, if B school open with application

If you have not already applied to any B school and wish to apply now, do not get disheartened there are still number of B schools across the country who have extended their last date to submit admission application upto March 31, 2015. The application process is online and therefore you still have 6 days to submit your application.  The need is to act a little fast now.

Expect good B school at low scores

Low scoring pattern in CMAT Feb 2015 can enable you to get good B school at low percentile. Not only this, your percentile score might have also improved at a lesser score compared to the score in CMAT 2015 first test.

The highest score in CMAT Feb 2015 has dipped by 18 raw marks in comparison to the highest score in CMAT Sep 2014. Accordingly, a candidate might have improved his score in percentile form at a low score. For example the highest score in CMAT 2015 first test held in Sep 2014 was 323 and in CMAT 2015 second test held in Feb 2015 it is 305. Both the scores would be rated same and would qualify for 100 percentile. A candidate scoring 300 in CMAT 2015 first test was awarded a percentile of 99.98, whereas the candidates scoring 271 in CMAT 2015 second test has been awarded a percentile score of 99.98. Hence the dip in scores in CMAT Feb 2015 has brightened your chances to get a better B school with a low score.

Find your place in merit

Go through the CMAT Feb 2015 National Merit List and find out what’s your standing. If you go for close observation, you will find that AICTE has awarded CMAT scores as raw scores as well as percentile scores in the National Merit List.

If you have a good place in the list, you will stand a good chance in comparison to other exams.  For example a CAT or XAT 90+ percentile does not reflect true score. The raw marks might have been very low but CMAT Feb 2015 first rank holder at 305 out of 400 becomes 100 percentiler when the score of CAT/XAT/CMAT are compared. With this gap in number of candidates and scores you could choose any of the top 10 B schools accepting CMAT scores.

Admission at reduced cut off

With dip in scores, candidates scoring a moderate raw score can expect to be offered admission in a good B school. There are only 100 candidates above the score of 236 in CMAT Feb 2015. It is expected that the candidates in top B schools can get admission at a reduced cut off by 15-20 marks as against the earlier anticipated cut off.

Expected cut off across the country

Following are the top B schools that are supposed to accept CMAT Feb 2015 scores for PGDM/MBA batch 2015-17. However you have to apply before their admission application process closes to become eligible for admission in academic year 2015-16 on the basis of CMAT scores.

Keep the Required documents ready

Hard copies of required documents should be kept ready for second stage of admission round. You will need the originals as well as copies of your marks sheets, certificates from 10th standard to the highest degree that you have mentioned in your form. Special or reserved category(DA/SC/ST) certificates; id proof;  address proof; experience certificate, if you are a working professional; certificates of extracurricular activities; Domicile proof; Date of Birth certificate and any other certificate and photographs required by the particular University or the institute during final admission round should be kept in a file so that you do not forget the same when you go to convert the call.

Get edge with CMAT score card

There are many institutes which accept CAT and CMAT both. The problem with CAT score lies in its sectional cut off.  A candidate may have high overall CAT percentile but low sectional percentile which may block the admission chances to good B school.  But there is no such problem with CMAT as it has sectional as well as overall score with pre declared place in merit list. You may use your CMAT score card parallel to score cards of other All India Entrance exams.
