ISB Hyderabad celebrated 14th Graduation Day on April 10, 2015 with Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi as Chief Guest
"ISB can play a big role to bridge these gaps and build capacity within the industry for socially responsible businesses" Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi stressed the need for Social Responsibility among the students while addressing 613 freshly graduated management experts from the Hyderabad campus of the Indian School of Business (ISB). The child rights activist and the Nobel Peace Prize winner was the chief guest at the 14th Graduation Day celebrations held on April 10, 2015 at ISB Hyderbabad. The gathering included 551 students of the Class of 2015 of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and 62 students of the Class of 2014 of PGP in Management for Senior Executives (PGPMAX), and their families. Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were Adi Godrej, Chairman ISB, Pramat Sinha and Rahul Bajaj who are also members of the ISB Executive Board

Asking the students to inculcate the values, spirit and capacity for social return in whatever they did next Kailash Satyarthi said that ISB is the right institution to pick up such a focus for future business leaders. Speaking on the occasion the child rights activist said to loud applause from the gathering “There is a serious trust deficit between civil society, business and governments in general. ISB can play a big role to bridge these gaps and build capacity within the industry for socially responsible businesses. And I am willing to work with ISB towards this”.

Adi Godrej, Chairman, ISB welcomed the Nobel Laureate and said it was indeed a privilege to have the opportunity to hear a motivating personality as Mr Satyarthi. It was particularly inspiring for the students who step into a promising tomorrow.  Speaking on the impact of philanthropy in institution building, he said, “ISB is a wonderful outcome of the efforts of catalytic philanthropy of a few business leaders who had the zeal to make difference to the society and build business leaders of tomorrow.” With each passing year, the way the academia, industry including MNCs and India Inc., and the government, have accepted ISB students into their fold, speaks volumes of the quality that the institution now represents. It is this giving back to the society that gives us joy.

Congratulating the graduating students, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean  ISB said, “It is heartening to see alumni from our early classes already taking on leadership positions across the world. Close to 200 of them have moved into CXO positions in the corporate world and nearly 400  have started their own businesses. The strength of ISB lies in the students like you with diverse backgrounds, a world class faculty, inspiring campuses at both locations, and finally the success of our alumni. There is no easy way in life and there is enormous success awaiting those who work hard on a sustained basis.”
