Dr SR Singhvi conducts FDP on Case Method at IMT Nagpur; initiative to adopt as important pedagogy

Dr S.R. Singhvi, Senior Professor at IMT Ghaziabad and expert on Case method was invited to facilitate the Faculty Development process for 2 days involving the total faculty at IMT Nagpur.  On the initiative taken by present IMT Nagpur Director Dr S.K. Bhattacharya and Associate Dean Dr R. Patnaik, Case Method has been adopted as an important pedagogy in delivering their MBA Program.

 

Dr Singhvi is a Senior Professor, Marketing at IMT Ghaziabad and is an expert on Case method. He is gold-medalist in M.A. (Economics), LL.B. (Taxation), and a PGDBM. He is with IMT since 2012. He has been a UNDP Fellow in Marketing at Kellogg School of Management, North Western University, USA for an academic term and has also been trained on Participant-centered Learning and Case Writing and Case Development at Harvard Business School

 

Dr Singhvi has been engaged for 31 years, in academics with diverse roles at University of Jodhpur, Directorate of College Education, Rajasthan; Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore; Professor of Marketing- Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon; International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi; Fore School of Management, New Delhi; Director and Dean of Asia Pacific Institute of Management; Senior Faculty (Marketing) at Management Training Institute-Staff College of SAIL among others.

 

In between the academic career, Dr Singhvi has spent 17 years in managing enterprises as Field Sales Manager in Fertiliser PSU's, Head of Training and Acting Chief- Personnel of Marketing Division of Steel Authority of India, General Manager- Corporate Training and Development and Management Advisor with Indo-Rama Synthetic Ltd. and

 

Dr Singhvi was a member of the Board of IMPCL. He has extended consultancy, training and education services in the area of Marketing and General Management to various firms in India and abroad. His clients are from all sectors, types and sizes of enterprises.

 

Dr Singhvi is actively engaged in faculty development in Case Method Learning for over a decade both at university and school level. IMT Nagpur took the opportunity to organize the FDP utilizing his expertise in this area. 

 

Faculty at IMT Nagpur had already undergone various Faculty Development Programs in the previous years, where they were exposed to Case teaching and Case writing. Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur, publishes an exclusive journal on case method. A few faculty members have written cases with Teaching Notes. Some of them are delivering Case Based Courses in the area of Marketing and Finance. Others do have case method as a part of their pedagogy-mix. Specific concerns at the institute level were deliberated upon to chalk out an action plan that shall enable effective use of method in the institute. The initiative was taken by present Director Dr S.K. Bhattacharya and Associate Dean Dr R. Patnaik, understanding the issues at institution level.

 

IMT Nagpur is one of the 4 campuses of IMT located in Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Dubai. IMT Nagpur offers quality PGDM programmes with high placements to its students and is constantly adopting more innovations in its pedagogy. The B school accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT scores for the flagship 2 years full time PGDM course. Students at IMT are required to stay in Hostels at the campus.
