It appears that AICTE has forgot opening of CMAT Sep 2015 (the first CMAT 2016 test) which may cause delay in conduct of the exam
If the CMAT Sep 2015 gets a clash of dates with CAT 2015, registrations for CMAT may further dip and it may go down to 5th or 6th position after XAT, NMAT and IIFT

Breaking the legacy of opening the registration process for September CMAT examination in the first 4-5 days of July every year, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has allowed the first 2 weeks of July 2015 pass by without any indication when they are going to announce the CMAT Sep 2015 exam. It appears that AICTE has forgot opening of CMAT Sep 2015 (the first CMAT 2016 test) which may cause delay in conduct of the exam. In fact CAT 2015 is proposed to be held in October 2015 and there will be MAT Sep 2015 also. Candidates prefer appearing in CMAT Sep exam as it is held just before CAT and IIFT entrance exams.

The delay in opening of the registration may not be so important as the CMAT Sep 2015 exam dates. In case they are carried over to October 2015 and clash with CAT 2015, AICTE may lose substantial registration for the CMAT. Irony is that both the CMAT exams held in Sep 2014 and Feb 2015 had performed low on registrations as compared to earlier number of candidates registering for CMAT.

So far CMAT has stood out as the second largest national level entrance examination for MBA/PGDM courses across the country and has been running close to XAT. If the CMAT Sep 2015 gets a clash of dates with CAT 2015, registrations for CMAT may further dip and it may go down to 5th or 6th position after XAT, NMAT and IIFT.

However, the sources have reported that delay is due to the new Chairman of AICTE Dr Anil D. Sahasrabudhe taking the charge of the Council in the month of July 2015. Accordingly it is expected that despite the little delay in announcement, the CMAT Sep 2015 exam will be held as scheduled in the last week of September 2015 or in the first week of October 2015 without delaying the process much.

Expect CMAT registration in July 3rd week
The registration for CMAT Sep 2015 is now expected to be opened in the 3rd week of July 2015 and the schedule for conducting First National Level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2016 to select suitable students for admission in management programmes for MBA/PGDM batch 2016-18 is expected to be in the last week of September, 2015 as earlier.

AICTE will provide 2 opportunities to appear in CMAT for admission session commencing in 2016; first in September 2015 and Second in February 2016. The better of two scores will be used for admission for PGDM/MBA batch 2016-18.

CMAT is one of the largest management entrance tests. Around 1 lac candidates are expected to register for CMAT Sep 2015 exam. Apart from B schools that are going to accept CAT/XAT scores, there are other leading B schools who will accept CMAT Sep 2015 scores. Good marks in CMAT Sep 2015 exam will offer participants ample scope to get admitted into some of the highly ranked university and private B schools in the country.

CMAT Sep 2015 Registration process
Registration to CMAT Sep 2015 exam is proposed to be the online process. After opening the online registration window for CMAT Sep 2015 sometime in the month of July 2015, AICTE proposes to keep it open till the end of August 2015. All the candidates who are graduates or are in the final year of graduation in any discipline are eligible to apply for CMAT Sep 2015. The only condition is that their results should be declared prior to commencement of admission 2016.

Flexibility in choosing test dates and Cities
AICTE-CMAT Sep 2015 exam is proposed to be held in a 4 day test window in the last week of September, 2015 or first week of October 2015. AICTE also proposes to provide flexibility to choose the test dates for CMAT Sep 2015. A candidate can choose 3 dates and 3 cities of India for online CMAT examination in the order of preference while registering for CMAT.  Allotment will however, be based on first come first served and subject to availability of the slots in a particular city. Candidates who register at an early date get the most preferred date and city.

AICTE proposes to conduct CMAT 2016-17 first test in 62 cities all across India in a 4 day test window in the last week of September 2015. There will be 2 test sessions of 3 hours each on every day; the first one will be from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM and the second one will be from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.

CMAT Sep 2015 aspirants will have the opportunity to be allotted the session slot on desired date subject to availability.  The best course is to apply as early as possible.

CMAT Sep 2015: Exam Pattern
CMAT is an easier exam than CAT or XAT.  It is an on line computer based test with 4 major components. The candidate may appear in either of the two sessions in a day. The test comprises 100 multiple choice questions to be solved in 180 minutes. The test is divided in 4 sections and each section has 25 questions. The sections are Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation; Logical Reasoning; Language Comprehension; General Awareness.

The best part of the exam is that the students can attempt any question from any section till the test is over. 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer, while a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer will be imposed.

Government and Private Universities, highly ranked B schools in 13 states have been accepting CMAT scores as the only gateway to MBA admissions under the government quota, instead of the State-administered Post graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). The states which are likely to accept CMAT Sep 2015 scores are: Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh

The objective of CMAT Sep 2015 exam is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, rather to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit.

In 2012, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the government appointed regulator for technical education in India started conducting its own entrance test – Combined Management Admission Test or CMAT.  AICTE recommends all institutes offering MBA and PGDM courses to use CMAT for their admissions.
