The time period of one week from the date of assurance from AICTE, will be over on August 4, 2015. CMAT 2016 (First test) aspirants may get the opportunity to go through the exam notification even before the deadline.

Gear up: Know about CMAT 2016 (First test)
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the authority that conducts Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). AICTE offers 2 opportunities to the CMAT takers to take the test and improve their scores. While the first test is held in the last week of September every year in a 4-5 days test window the second test is held in coming month of February. High scores in CMAT provide opportunity to seek admission to MBA/PGDM programmes in highly ranked B-schools across India.

AICTE also proposes to provide flexibility to choose the test dates for CMAT exam. A candidate can choose 3 dates and 3 cities of India for online CMAT examination in the order of preference while registering for CMAT.  Allotment will however, be based on first come first served and subject to availability of the slots in a particular city. Candidates who register at an early date get the most preferred date and city.

AICTE proposes to conduct CMAT 2016 first test in 62 cities all across India. The test is conducted in a 4-5 day test window. It is expected that  there will be 2 test sessions of 3 hours each on every test day; the first one will be from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM and the second one will be from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.

CMAT: Registration process
Registration to CMAT 2016 first test is proposed to be the online process. After opening the online registration window for CMAT in the month of August 2015, AICTE proposes to keep it open till the middle of September 2015. All the candidates who are graduates or are in the final year of graduation in any discipline are eligible to apply for CMAT 2016 first test to be held sometime in the month of October 2015. The only condition is that their results should be declared prior to commencement of admission 2016.

CMAT: Exam Pattern
CMAT is an easier exam than CAT or XAT.  It is an on line computer based test with 4 major components. The candidate may appear in either of the two sessions in a day. The test comprises 100 multiple choice questions to be solved in 180 minutes. The test is divided in 4 sections and each section has 25 questions. The sections are Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation; Logical Reasoning; Language Comprehension and General Awareness.

The best part of the exam is that the students can attempt any question from any section till the test is over. 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer, while a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer is imposed.

Government and Private Universities, highly ranked B schools in 13 states have been accepting CMAT scores as the only gateway to MBA admissions under the government quota, instead of the State-administered Post graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). The states which are likely to accept CMAT 2016 first test scores are: Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh

The objective of CMAT exam is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, rather to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit.
