IIM Lucknow: skips GD Round 10 point Weightage shifted to PI; announces shortlisting and admission criteria 2016

While each stage of admission round will have maximum weightage of 50 points, there is an upward shift of 10 weightage points to PI round in final admission process

Better late than never, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow the 4th in the IIM family and one of the top rated B-schools in India has announced scrapping the Group Discussion from its final admission round from the academic session 2016-17 and the PGP batch 2016-18. Other top rated IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Bangalore, Indore as well as the 6 new IIMs (Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur) have already done away with GD round in their final admission process.

Announcing the admission policy and process for the flagship 2 years full time PGP programme 2016-18 IIM Lucknow has shared the 1st and 2nd stage weigthtage points for each criterion. While each stage of admission round will have maximum weightage of 50 points, there is an upward shift of 10 weightage points to PI round in final admission process.

Now out of 13 Old and new IIMs, only IIM Kozhikode and IIM Shillong are left with the GD process which continues and may be scrapped in admission 2016 when the admission policy is announced. The 6 new IIMs established in 2014-15 at Amritsar, Bodh Gaya, Nagpur, Sambalpur, Sirmaur and Visakhapatnam are mentored by 6 old IIMs and according to their admission policy for 2015 admissions have been finalized. It is expected that the admission policy for these IIMs will also shortly be announced for the PGP batch 2016-18 which may not consist of  a GD process.

Higher weightage of 40 points to PI at IIM Lucknow
The announcement by IIM Lucknow to skip GD round in future and shift the weightage to Personal Interview (PI) while keeping the weightage on WAT at the same level, will call for greater preparation on PI round. The shift in weightage points from the batch 2015-17 will stand as follows

IIM Lucknow; 1st stage shortlisting criteria 2016 also announced

Weightage to academic profile and high CAT 2015 percentile are going to be the key criteria in shortlisting the candidates for final admission round 2016 at IIM Lucknow.

On a scale of 50, IIM Lucknow will award weightage of 38 points to CAT 2015 score; academic profile and academic diversity will have a total maximum weightage of 8 points followed by Work experience  and gender diversity which carry a weightage of  2 points each.

If you have scored 95+ percent marks in class XII, you will get 2 points. 3 points will be awarded after normalization for graduation marks according to academic discipline. Academic disciplines eligible for the Diversity factor weightage of maximum 3 points in shortlising are Arts & Humanities, Law, Commerce, economics, Medicine, Pharmacy, CA/CS.
