Xavier School of Management (XLRI) Jamshedpur, as expected will conduct Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2016 on January 3, 2016. Since XAT is conducted on the first Sunday of January every year, XLRI wouldn’t like to break the legacy of 60 years in convening the XAT 2016 also. Speaking to MBAUniverse.com on Saturday August 8, 2016, the XLRI official confirmed that XAT 2016 would be held on January 3 and the registration for the exam would open in the last week of August, 2015.

The format of XAT 2016 would remain pen-paper based. Application process to XAT 2016 will open by the end of this month. XAT 2016 scores will be used by XLRI and other XAMI institutions and also by more than 100 other associated B-schools.

Last year in XAT 2015 around 90,000 students registered and applied for  XAT exam, making it second most popular exam after CAT.

XAT 2016: Exam pattern
XAT 2016 is going to be on the similar pattern like last many years with no change in the pattern and syllabus. XLRI has been conducting Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pencil mode. XAT that is aimed to select the most appropriate candidates who wish to pursue management education still goes in paper pen mode.

Giving the rationale for retaining the pen-paper method, XLRI said, “The format of XAT would remain pen-paper based. This is to ensure that candidates of all backgrounds are at par, so that those who have pre-familiarity of operating computers, specially coming from privileged background or having worked in IT sector, do not get any advantage over others who do not have access to computers. The paper-pen mode also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.”

XAT 2016: to have 4 MCQ sections
XAT 2016 will be divided in 4 sections comprising MCQ type questions on Quantitative Ability; English Language & logical reasoning; Decision making and GK and Essay.  There will be a descriptive essay writing test also in XAT 2016.
