More on-line business companies are targeting not only the premier B schools like SPJIMR, MDI and ISB but also the PGDM/MBA graduates from next tier B schools

Partially catering to the current requirement of MBAs in its expanding e-commerce business and with the target to double its existing work force from 5000 to 10000 to meet the rising demand of recruitment, Snapdeal has recruited 250 MBA/PGDM graduates in a short placement drive in 2015 from SPJIMR, MDI, ISB among other B-schools.

With the rise in e-commerce and volume of online retail business in India, MBA/PGDM students are sure getting a shot in the arm as more on-line business companies are targeting not only the premier B-schools like SPJIMR, MDI and ISB but also the PGDM/MBA graduates from next tier B-schools.

The on-line retail business is growing in India at a much faster pace. It is estimated that the present $2.3billion online market in India will grow to more than $100 billion by 2020. Accordingly it is only the beginning and if the predictions go right, thousands of MBAs every year will be required by these online retail business e-commerce companies like Snapdeal; Flipkart, Amazon and many others.

Snapdeal at present is $5bn company which is expected to more than double its business in forthcoming year. Flipkart is presently valued at $11bn and is also rising constantly. With more prospects in booming MBA job markets in the online retail and e-commerce companies, the career opportunity will further increase with higher placement packages in all the good MBA/PGDM colleges.

All the online retail companies are chalking out the plans to have extensive placement sessions across the B-schools in the country for suitable talent hunt and to hire the MBAs for the roles in Sales & marketing; Strategy management; Supply chain; product management; IT Management; tele-communication among others.

While Snapdeal has hired MBA graduates for Sales & marketing, Strategy management and Supply chain & product management, Flipkart is devising plan to hire more MBAs in the area of IT & communication.

On the top of recruitment drive Amazon has been rated as one of the top recruiters in placement seasons at many B-schools. Most of the MBAs recruited by Amazon are placed in the areas of Operations, HR, Finance, Consumer business, logistics. Moving further the company has recruited experienced MBAs from FMCG sector. The company has become one of the fastest growing online retail companies by adding around 50% to its workforce in a year.

The scope of MBAs being recruited in online retail business or e-commerce companies is not restricted to Indian job market only, these fast growing companies have been hiring Indian MBA students for their abroad operations also.

The companies like Amazon which have their multinational presence recruit MBAs from B-schools all over the world.

Students pursuing PGDM/MBA should expect a very good future in on-line retail business companies and even in their startups in this area as the market is growing at a faster pace than any other one. Thousands of MBAs are expected to be recruited in next placement season by these e-commerce or online retail companies strategically selling everything direct to the consumer, it is expected.
