IIM Kozhikode admission 2016 criteria announced; awards 75% weightage to CAT 2015 index scores

Highly placed in MBAUniverse.com ranking, IIM Kozhikode has announced the admission policy and shortlisitng criteria for admission 2016 to flagship PGP programme 2016-18. CAT 2015 aspirants shall have to score a minimum of 90 overall and 80 sectional percentile to qualify for shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode.

 

IIM Kozhikode joined the family of IIMs in 1996 with its first PGP batch of 42 students in 1997 and has grown over the years with a current batch strength of 356 odd students making it the fastest growing management school in the country.

 

The minimum CAT 2015 score requirement does not mean the exact CAT 2015 score cut off  as the actual score taken as cut off may go up in shortlisitng process of the candidates. However the candidates without meeting the minimum score eligibility requirement may not be shortlisted by IIM Kozhikode after declaration of CAT 2015 result.

 

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is the flagship programme offered by IIM Kozhikode. It is a 2 year, full time residential programme.

 

75% weightage to CAT 2015 scores
The most important criterion for generation of merit list for WAT-PI for PGP 2016-18 at IIM Kozhikode will be CAT 2015 scores obtained by the eligible candidate. On a scale of 100, IIM Kozhikode will award 75% weightage to CAT 2015 score in shortlisting the candidates for WAT & PI round for Flagship PGP 2016-18 batch.

 

According to IIM Kozhikode, ‘Performance in CAT is an important input in the admission process. Candidates should note that it is important to perform well in each section of the test. Scaled Scores from the sections with equal weightages, of CAT 2015 will go into the computation of the CAT Index Score. CAT Index Score will carry a weight of 75%’

Weightage to Graduation marks
Graduation marks will be awarded maximum weightage of 7.5% on score percentage of 81+. No weightage will be awarded for a score of less than 60% marks in graduation.

 

Weightage to Class XII marks
The percentage of marks obtained in HSC/Class XII would be the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.

 

A percentage of 81 or more in class XII Marks will fetch the weightage of 7.5% and less than 60% marks will not be awarded with any weightage at the first stage of shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode. No weightage would be awarded for class X marks.

 

Weightage to work experience
Work Experience will carry a maximum weightage of 5% on a scale of 100 in the shortlisting criteria of IIM Kozhikode. CAT 2015 takers with a work experience between 22 to 24 months will be awarded the maximum weightage while those with less than 6 months work experience will get 0% weightage.

 

Only paid and full-time managerial work experience, acquired after completing the Bachelor’s Degree will be counted as on January 31, 2016. Apprenticeship, Articleship, Internship etc., which form an integral part of a course of study, would not be treated as work experience.

 

Weightage to academic and gender Diversity
To ensure diversity, 5% weightage on a scale of 100 will be awarded for gender diversity or for academic discipline diversity related factors at the first stage of shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode. Please note that 5% is the maximum weightage and will not be awarded separately for each factor.

 

All the above component scores will be combined to arrive at the Aggregate Index Score for each candidate that will be used to call sufficient candidates in each category for the second stage of admissions.

Important Points in IIMK admission process

 

1. The candidates’ short‐list for PI will be made available on the IIM Kozhikode website around the last week of January 2016.

 

2. The interview call letters, venue details will be made available on the IIM Kozhikode website and the candidates will have to download the same.

 

3. The Stage1 short‐listed candidates who have completed their personal profile form online only can attend the PI

 

4. Subsequent to the GD/WAT and PI, the merit list for admissions will be prepared around the last week of April/first week of May 2016.

 

5. Required number of admission offers (available on the IIMK website) will be made from the merit list, in the order.

 

6. Hard copies of the admission offers will be issued only to those candidates who send the completed offer acceptance form together with payment details

 

IIM Kozhikode has a strong International Exchange Programme for students and faculty with several leading Management Institutes in EU and ASEAN countries like SDA, Bacconi, Jonkoping, Sweden, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, ESCAP-EAP, France; University of Queensland, Austria, Victoria University of Wellington among others.

 

Placement season 2015 at IIM Kozhikode was marked with grand success with 100% placement achieved in just 10 days. Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Director, IIM Kozhikode released the final placement report on Feb 10, 2015. IIM Kozhikode saw a rise in average salary to Rs.14.92 lakhs per annum, the highest domestic compensation also increased to Rs. 29.5 lakhs in placement 2015.
