Sharing with MBAUniverse.com Dr Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor NMIMS University has clarified that Candidates seeking admission opportunity to MBA programme 2016-18 batch at NMIMS have to apply online to register for NMAT by GMAC  alongwith applying to NMIMS. According to him “It is important for all aspirants to understand that the only gateway to NMIMS is NMAT and that the registration at both the places will end on October 5. If they don’t register for NMAT or NMIMS by that time, they will miss the opportunity of getting in NMIMS this year.”

The registration and application process for NMAT by GMAC is going to close on October 5 and for NMIMS it will close on October 19, 2015 it is very important for the NMIMS aspirants to apply for NMAT by GMAC as well as for NMIMS within the stipulated time period.

Dr Saxena has shared that ‘At the moment there are 35,000 students who have registered for NMAT by GMAC’. Since only 5 days are left to finalize the registration and application process for NMAT by GMAC, it will be better to simultaneously apply for NMIMS else the candidates desirous of getting into MBA 2016-18 batch of NMIMS at one of its campuses might forget to register and lose the admission opportunity.

Dr Saxena VC, NMIMS suggests “For all those who are desirous of joining NMIMS it is necessary that they register at both places that is at the NMAT by GMAC website and at NMIMS. This is an important change this year as now the Test is independent of NMIMS and is owned and marketed by GMAC.”.

NMAT by GMAC: no different from NMAT
NMAT used to be the official entrance exam for admission to MBA programmes at NMIMS till 2015. With effect from the admission year 2016, NMAT has been renamed as ‘NMAT by GMAC’ after its acquisition by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) who is going to conduct first ‘NMAT by GMAC’.

GMAC, the owner of GMAT exam acquired NMAT 2015 and all subsequent year NMATs in the month of March 2015. Now the  entrance exam for admission to flagship MBA programme at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) is known as ‘NMAT by GMAC’.

NMAT by GMAC’ will be no different than NMAT. There will not be any changes in content of the test. The exam will be conducted in the longest testing window of 75 days from October 6 to December 19, 2015.

According to Dr Rajan Saxena VC NMIMS “The test design and the number of retakes remain the same as that of last year. Also the difficulty level will be the same as that of last year. My suggestion to all the aspirants is to prepare well.”

NMAT by GMAC’ will be a computer based objective type multiple-choice test as was NMAT. NMAT by GMAC will comprise 120 questions to be solved in 2 hours (120 minutes). Aspirants will have 1 minute per question to solve. No descriptive type of questions would be asked in NMAT by GMAC. The exam will allow 3 retakes to improve score and thereby the admission chances in NMIMS.

To improve the level of preparation and to score high in NMAT by GMAC, Dr Saxena suggests “GMAC has just introduced an official guide to NMAT. Students who are interested may consider acquiring it.”

NMAT by GMAC shall have same test components as earlier NMAT used to contain. The time allocation and number of questions will also not change and the entire exam will follow the earlier NMAT pattern
