IIM Rohtak organized 5th Management Conclave, MANCON 2015, a 2 day convention on Oct 10 & 11, 2015 at its campus. The conclave focused on the topic “Opportunity in Crisis: Call for Intelligent Innovation”. The conclave witnessed the participation of top business leaders Deepak Tuli, Co-Founder and COO, Goibibo; Anil Chopra, Business Head, Technical Skill Development, Siemens; Murlee Dhar Shyamm, VP-Group, RJ Corp Healthcare; Vivek Tripathi, CHRO, Lava International; Rakesh Kharwal, Director - Intel Security, McAfee and Mr Murthy NSN, Director and Leader, Smart Cities among others.
Realizing the criticality of innovation in an organization, the 2 day Management conclave at IIM Rohtak held discussions on the company’s capability to adapt and forge new ideas into intelligent innovation as its only savior in the wake of a major crisis hitting its shores.
Constantly evolving technology has resulted in companies routinely encountering disruptions in the form of competition or ever-morphing customer preferences. On the second day of the convention, the panels deliberated on the transformation in working of various verticals in the face of adversity. The operations panel of the conclave discussed on the topic “Managing Operations and Supply Chain under market uncertainties”.
Increasing complexity and ambiguity in delivery schedules and timelines can only be managed by coordination and collaboration with partners, suppliers and also within the company itself. Mr Deepak Tuli, Co-Founder and COO, Goibibo, recalled the journey of Goibibo and how it made its way to the summit of the online travel booking industry through numerous uncertainties. He further elaborated on their competitors and how Goibibo has successfully provided one lakh bookings for the 2nd October weekend with just one percent fault rate. Mr Anil Chopra, Business Head, Technical Skill Development, Siemens described how Siemens has excelled in their procurement process through implementing e-bidding for their suppliers.+
The discourse in the HR panel revolved around the topic “HR perspective for employee creativity in organizations”. Discussion revolved around the increasing need for companies to adopt policies that foster creativity and therefore promote innovation. Mr. Murlee Dhar Shyamm, VP-Group, RJ Corp Healthcare group told about the flexibility of organizations to support employees in enhancing and materialising creativity. Mr Vivek Tripathi, CHRO, Lava International also added to that by discussing about company work cultures which enable their employees to innovate.
The strategy panel discussion was focused on the topic “Strategy in dynamically networked, digitized markets – Hyper competition”. With increasing industry cross-convergence, the discussion revolved around new rules of competition emerging across different industries.
The IT panel discussion was on the topic “Innovation in IT: Intelligence gathering for Smart Business”. It deliberated upon the importance of innovation in the fields of Data Analytics and Customer Relationship Management. Mr. Rakesh Kharwal, Director - Intel Security, McAfee, Mr. Murthy NSN, Director and Leader, Smart Cities, PWC were the esteemed panelists. The insights and observations on innovation on various verticals by the industry stalwarts were immensely appreciated by the audience.
Indian Institute of Management Rohtak is the 8th IIM setup by Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Currently, it is the only IIM in the National Capital Region of India.
