The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi concluded the summer placement 2015 in record time for the students of its flagship MBA (International Business) program 2015-17. Despite the tight fisted economy conditions, the highest number of recruiters turned up on the campus to offer summer internship to the batch of 262 students.

Among the top recruiters are Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, ITC, Shell, Boeing, GE, Marico, Dabur, J&J CH, GSK CH, Godrej Industries, eBay, Flipkart, Microsoft, Google & Amazon.

The average stipend saw a marked increase of 30% with the highest domestic stipend offered being Rs. 4 lakhs for complete internship duration. Close to 53% of the batch received 6 figure stipends. The TATA group (TATA Steel, TATA Motors, Titan, TATA International & TCS) made a total of 25 offers on campus, thereby making a strong presence felt.

IIFT summer placement: International
International summer placements continued unabated with 12 offers. Roles offered were across Middle East, Africa, SAARC, Europe and Singapore. IIFT reinforced its standing as the best trade school in Asia with roles offered by the full gamut from the Big 4 (ABCD) of Trade - ADM, Bunge, Cargill & Louis Dreyfus. Other trade roles were offered by ITC, Golden-Agri Resources, TATA International & SMR Group.

Key highlights

-- The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) continued recruiting interns for their Paris office.
-- World Trade Centre recruited interns for their Bangalore office.
-- World Trade Organization recruited interns for their international offices.
-- The European Union hired summer interns from IIFT exclusively.

Domain Wise Breakup
Sales & Marketing – Sales and Marketing saw a wide representation across sectors like FMCG, Telecom, Pharma and Healthcare, E-Commerce, Consumer durables, Media and Advertising, Apparel Retail, Automotive, Iron and Steel manufacturing. ITC, which has recruited from IIFT for the past 28 years, continued their valued association with IIFT.

Among other premium FMCG firms Marico, Dabur, J&J CH, GSK CH, Pidilite, Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej & Boyce, Britannia, L’Oreal, SAB Miller, Hector Beverages and Tolaram Group made multiple offers.

Other notable S&M recruiters included Vodafone, Lenovo, Akzo Nobel, Aviva Life Insurance, HT Media, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Boston Scientific, Becton Dickinson, Boehringer Ingelheim, UB Global, SONY Entertainment Television (MSM) & Tupperware, among many others.

The E-Commerce sector hired aggressively from IIFT with over 20% of the batch opting to intern in the sector. Some of the larger recruiters included Amazon, eBay, Flipkart, GirnarSoft, ShopClues, Zopper, Zovi & Peppertap.

Consulting - IIFT made giant strides in the Consulting domain with the prestigious Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recruiting summer interns for the first time. Operations and Supply Chain consulting giant Global e-Procure (GeP) returned to IIFT after a couple of years.

New relationships were forged with Deloitte India, Grant Thornton, and Redseer & Actuate Business Consulting. One of the Global Top-5 Executive Search Firms Russell Reynolds continued to hire summer interns exclusively from IIFT. Cognizant Business Consulting and Corporate Executive Board (CEB) recruited in good numbers.

Finance – The Finance domain saw a wide diversity of roles on offer with Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan making the highest number of offers in this domain. Other notable recruiters were Synergy Consulting, Nomura, DBS, GE, Langham Capital and Edelweiss, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HSBC Bank, & Citi Bank. For the first time, IIFT also saw boutique consulting & Private Equity firms recruiting from its campus.

General Management – In the General Management domain, all the regular recruiters like Mahindra and Mahindra, Airtel, Shell, Godrej Properties Limited, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motors and L&T hired from IIFT. Technology giants Microsoft, Google, IBM and HP recruit in strength from IIFT. IT/ITeS firms like TCS and Wipro made their presence felt with a wide gamut of roles.

Operations – Operations and Supply Chain consulting giant Global e-Procure (GeP) continued their association with IIFT. Other notable recruiters included Capgemini Consulting, Cognizant Business Consulting, CEB, Redseer & Actuate Business Consulting. Global Top-5 Executive Search Firm Russell Reynolds continued to hire summer interns exclusively from IIFT.

The Operations domain saw Amazon hiring the maximum number of interns. Maersk Line, the world’s largest container shipping company continued their association with IIFT. Texas Instruments, TATA Steel, TAFE, Jubilant FoodWorks, DCM Shriram, AT Foods and JSPL also offered summer internships to the students.
