Tomorrow on Nov 22, 2015 when you are writing your IIFT 2015 entrance exam for admission to MBA (IB) 2016-18 in its Delhi or Kolkata campuses, you should follow the testing room strategy of minimum mistakes with maximum score. In view of Prof S K Agarwal, expert on Verbal Ability and mentor on IIFT preparation, candidates make common mistakes, get tempted to attempt difficult questions, waste their time attract the penalty of negative marking that result in loss of score.

Following are the important do’s and don’ts that you should observe in the examination hall.

-- The very first thing you must remember is to carry the relevant documents to the exam centre.
-- Apart from Admit card carry one ID proof to the exam centre
-- Don’t carry with you irrelevant items as it may be difficult to find a proper storing place for them
-- The exam begins at 10 AM. Arrive at the exam centre latest by 9 AM.

Don’t be too advanced in approach
The questions asked in IIFT entrance are pretty basic. In case you find it difficult don’t go for it as it implies that you would be wasting your time struggling with it. Besides, the questions on GK do not need second or third attempt. If you know the answer, attempt it, if not move ahead.

Don’t have  pre-conceived notions
The strategy to ace the IIFT 2015 entrance test by answering maximum questions with accuracy is that you should not have any pre-conceived notions. Have an open mind to all the questions. Since there is neither sectional time constraint nor you are bound to begin with any particular section, you can begin with any question in any section. It is very much possible that once you begin answering questions, you continue getting easy and are able to answer maximum questions with minimum mistakes. You must also be aware how to skip the questions. It will be better not to get tempted to such questions that you may not solve nor take them as a challenge as it will ultimately result in wastage of time. If you have taken mocks, solved past papers, you will be able to understand the test pattern and composition better and will be able to answer maximum questions.

Attempt with 100% concentration
First begin with the section which is your strongest one as it will boost your confidence level. If you are good at English, General Knowledge, Logical reasoning, begin with them. Once you are done with them proceed to tackle questions on Quant and Data Interpretation.

Each section in IIFT entrance exam is important hence weightage to all of them is to be given. There is cut-off for every section. So every section is to be attempted. The important thing however, is to focus more on your stronger sections and maximize your score. For example Quant carries 25 marks out of 100; hence you should score more in this section and devote more time.

Since it is not possible to attempt every question in the given time frame, the test taker should choose such questions which are easier and not time consuming. It’s no good comparing IIFT and CAT exams as both are different exams that need different skill set.

It is also not possible to decide how many attempts you would make in the exam room without looking at the test paper. Hence you should try to solve as many questions as possible with accuracy. Sectional cut-offs also exist in IIFT entrance test. It is imperative to focus on all the sections to score high percentile.

Time Management in IIFT
Since there is very less time for the exam, you must start without wasting time on scanning the entire test paper. Begin with your stronger section and spend less time on that keeping an eye on time. The saved time could be utilized on other section. You should keep in mind to score high in every section to clear the sectional cut-off.

VA, LR, GK in 30 minutes each
It is a good idea if you are able to complete VA, LR, GK in 25-30 minutes each. This will save your time for lengthier sections like Quant and DI. Besides questions in Quant and DI carry 1 mark per question so this factor is also to be considered.  Please remember GK in IIFT is as important as other sections.

Darken the appropriate circle
Please make sure that you are gentle to OMR answering sheet. Do not make hole while darkening the appropriate circle. Also ensure that you are darkening the right option circle as the numbers are very close ones.

Admission in IIFT assures you a good career with a high placement in domestic as well as foreign companies.
