SNAP 2015 takers should update their study plan as only 15 days are left to appear in the exam the registration of which is proposed to close on Nov 24
For the past 5 years, for the MBA program at SIBM, Pune, the cut off percentile has never gone below 97 percentile Dr R Raman, Director SIBM Pune

With barely 15 days left for SNAP 2015 going to be held on December 20, 2015 the prospective test takers are supposed to update their study plan to ace the exam. While preparing for SNAP 2015 the important factor to be kept in mind is that the SNAP cut off percentile for shortlisting at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune usually goes high. According to Dr R Raman, Director SIBM Pune “For the past 5 years, for the MBA program at SIBM, Pune, the cut off percentile has never gone below 97 percentile.” Now the SNAP 2015 takers are required to score that much if they wish to explore admission opportunity at SIBM Pune.

SNAP 2015 will be the mandatory entrance exam to shortlist the candidates for admission to MBA 2016-18 batch at 14 Symbiosis B schools affiliated to Symbiosis International University. The exam will be of traditional paper-pen mode comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and will be of 2 hours duration from 2PM to 4PM.

The online registration and application process for SNAP 2015 was closed on November 30, 2015. There will be 30 test cities where SNAP 2015 is proposed to be conducted.

15 days preparation strategy
Candidates should now gear up for the last 15 days strategy to prepare and revise the more important topics. In view of Prof. S.K. Agarwal, expert on MBA entrance examination preparation, candidates should focus on key topics to score more apart from concentrating on their strong areas. Getting a good score in this test may get the aspirant into one of the highly ranked Symbiosis B-schools.

Verbal Ability & Reading comprehension
6 to 8 questions on error corrections based on grammar, tenses, and correct application of fundamentals, are expected in SNAP 2015. Reading Comprehension may place 6-8 questions. There are 40 questions of 1 mark each in this section and if these two parts are duly taken care of one third of Verbal Ability module is done.

So far SNAP has been placing moderate RC passage with a length of about 500 words followed by 5-6 questions. The level of difficulty of RC passage is not very high and with a regular reading practice one can crack it without much problem.

The common questions that follow the RC passage are tone of the passage, title of the passage, main idea of the passage, explaining the phrases and words and one or two questions on the information given in the passage.

In the next 15 days’ time Error corrections in sentences, Phrasal verbs, syntax, passive voice, conditional sentences, reported speech, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and articles must be covered to score more in this section. The shape may be finding out the correct/incorrect sentences, fill in the blanks or spotting out the usage in different forms. It is an important part of Verbal Ability section and SNAP gives more weightage to correct contextual usage

Analytical Ability
The 33% part in terms of score in SNAP 2015 is proposed to be covered with Analytical section. SNAP 2015 will award highest weightage to this section. There are 30 questions of 2 marks each. Hence despite the fewer number of questions, the weightage to this section is more.

Sharing about the importance of Analytical Ability in SNAP 2015 with MBAUniverse.com the SNAP 2015 convener and SIBM Pune Director Dr R Raman says “Every successful manager needs to be conversant with analytical skills. In the future business scenario, it is very important to understand and work with quantitative information. This fundamentally makes analytical skills highly important in every aspect for every single job out there in the market, which future managers aspire to take up. Hence analytical Ability in SNAP carries maximum weightage”

The topics to prepare for Analytical Ability are limited and one may organise the studies systematically by placing more focus on following topics.

Seating Arrangements; Matching puzzles; Constraint based arrangements; Blood Relations – family tree; Syllogism; Proposition based followed by either deductive or inductive argument; Assumptions; Statements; Sets; Binary logic; Venn Diagrams; Clocks and Calendars; team formation; Analogy.

Problems on Analytical and logical Ability are based on natural human logics, so they can be understood and solved fairly easily, if proper attention is paid to this section. It serves as an aid to facilitate your entry to the top B-schools since it improves your percentile with a little logical understanding of the reasoning based questions.

General Awareness
Regular reading of newspapers, periodicals, reference book like Manorama Year Book and visiting the General Awareness question bank on MBAUniverse.com site may prove quite beneficial to crack this section in SNAP 2015.

The candidates should split this section in three parts – i) Current Affairs-National & International  ii)Business & Economics  iii) Conventional (currency, capital, personalities, inventions & discoveries, books etc.).  It will be better to refer the material backwards. The test paper for SNAP 2015 is expected to be prepared by the first week of December 2015 so it may not be required to concentrate on the events that take place after December 7, 2015.

Quantitative Ability
This section has three parts with 40 questions in all, namely Quantitative Ability, Data sufficiency and Data Interpretation. The section is expected to be moderate. It is therefore, advisable to work more on strong areas instead of starting some new concept. Questions based on DI and DS may be solved with the support of available information. Candidates should revise and practice more to score much.

SNAP 2015 will contain objective type questions. Each question will have 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

SNAP 2015 test takers will have the option to choose one of the following 30 test cities while going for the registration process. Agra; Ahmedabad; Allahabad; Bengaluru; Bhopal; Bhubaneshwar; Chandigarh; Chennai; Delhi; Faridabad; Gurgaon; Guwahati; Hyderabad; Indore; Jaipur; Jamshedpur; Kanpur; Kochi; Kolkata; Kolhapur; Lucknow; Mumbai; Nagpur; Nashik; Noida; Patna; Pune; Surat; Vashi and Visakhapatnam.
