SNAP 2015, gateway to 14 Symbiosis B-schools was held in paper pen mode on December 20, 2015 in 2 hour test duration in a single session from 2PM to 4PM in 30 exam cities across the country.

SNAP 2015 was found slightly on higher level of difficulty as compared to earlier years although a major part of the test was moderate. It is expected that out of 180 marks, if you are able to qualify the sectional cut offs, the moderate score of 90 marks constituting 50% of the total maximum score, can get you shortlisted at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune.

Quick Analysis
Out of the 4 sections in SNAP 2015 test, the major emphasis with maximum marks and lowest number of questions was on Analytical and Logical Reasoning section carrying only 30 questions and 60 marks.

Quant found easiest
SNAP 2015 test takers found the Quant section with  40 questions carrying 40 marks in all on various topics on Quantitative ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency as the easy one although few questions were rated difficult enough that took the candidates for ride.

Major part of the questions covering the Quant section was based on Arithmetic topics like Profit & Loss; Time-Speed-Distance/Work; Percentage, Average among others. Out of 40 questions, there were about 12 questions only on Arithmetic. Those who are well versed with tips and tricks in Arithmetic cracked them quickly.  In addition to this there were 7-8 questions only on Number System.

Other major topics on which questions were found easy in this section included Algebra, Log, P&C, Trigonometry, Probability, Problems related to Age, Set theory, Pie Chart, Puzzles. Few  questions on Geometry  and Mensuration were found on higher level of difficulty than the other ones and were more time consuming.

Test takers could attempt around 25 questions in 40 minutes with good accuracy level. It is expected that a score of about 18 marks out of 40 maximum could award you a high sectional percentile in this section in SNAP 2015.

General English
Comprising Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Ability this section  had 40 questions carrying 40 maximum marks. The section was found a bit more difficult with a few surprises.

A lion’s share of the section was consumed by Vocabulary based questions which were around 14-15 out of 40. Apart from Idioms, figures of speech there were questions based on searching for the equivalent words used in American language as against the words in British Language. It may be noted that English curriculum in India is based on British English but there is a slight difference in the usage between the words of British and American English.

The lone RC passage from the essay titled ‘Knowledge and Wisdom’ by Bertrand Russell contained about 700 words and was followed by 5 questions. The questions could be answered fairly easily as they were direct ones. Besides the Passage was not very difficult one and could be understood well in single reading.

There were 9-10 questions based on correction of errors in sentences, spotting the errors, fill in the blanks with core grammar usage. 5 questions were based on Analogy and picking the odd one out.

Overall the section was doable with a few questions having higher difficulty level.  Around 25 questions could be attempted in 35 minutes.  Those who can score 20 marks  out of 40 in this section can get a high sectional percentile in SNAP 2015.

General Awareness
SNAP 2015 took the candidates for a ride in this section comprising questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs and Business Scenario. The section was rated as most difficult in the entire examination with twisted questions. Static and conventional GK played an important role in question formation in this section. Besides, questions on current affairs in this section were more focused on the year 2015. Politics also covered a good number of questions in SNAP 2015.

Those who are regular readers of news and articles on business and economic policies of the Government, announced changes, sports news were able to do better in this section.

It is expected that sectional cut off in this section would remain around 10 marks. If you are able to score 14 marks in this section you would be able to score a very high percentile in General Awareness section of SNAP 2015.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning
This was the most important and scoring section in SNAP 2015. The questions in this section had a maximum score of 60 i.e. 2 marks per question and those who practiced more on the variety of problem sets were able to perform better. The questions were not very difficult but were more time consuming.

Analytical and Logical reasoning is based on natural human instincts and need a bit of more practice to crack the problems.  SNAP is the only test that gives 33 percent  weight age to this section. The aspirants who really wish to crack the SNAP cannot do without it.

Prominent topics on which questions were based included Seating Arrangement; Series; Family Tree; Coding Decoding; Analogy, Statement Argument; Logical grouping;  Arrangement; puzzles among others.

Those who attempted the questions in sets before going for individual questions in the first attempt, they could attempt more questions with accuracy.

Out of 30 questions in this section an attempt of 20 questions could be rated as good. Since each question carries 2 maximum marks, out of a total maximum score of 60 marks, a score of 34 to 36 marks could fetch a very high sectional percentile paving the way to get shortlisted by SIBM or SCMHRD, Pune.
