While CAT 2015 result is going to be declared shortly, 5 out of 19 IIMs are still playing hide and seek with the test takers and have not yet announced their admission policy 2016-18. Usually, IIMs announce their admission policy well before the CAT exam date but IIM Rohtak; IIM Amritsar; IIM Nagpur; IIM Sambalpur and IIM Visakhapatnam are weighing pros & cons whether to announce higher or lower CAT 2015 scores as qualifying cut off to get full intake in PGDM 2016-18 batch.

Candidates losing interest
CAT 2015 result declaration will enable the candidates to choose their preferred IIMs as per their scores. Non announcement of admission policy by these IIMs may result in fewer candidates opting for them. Not only this, the candidates who may not find admission in any other IIMs may only opt for these sleeping IIMs.

Old Admission policy on site
Out of these 5 IIMs, 4 started operation in 2015 but even the one IIM Rohtak that came into existence 6 years back has not been able to announce its admission policy 2016-18. After declaration of CAT 2015 result, how these IIMs would shortlist the candidates is known to them only.

What fear factor holding them back?
All these 5 IIMs have not announced and published on their website the admission policy 2016-18. No one knows why they are holding back from announcing the admission policy, fee structure and proposed intake. A few of the probable reasons could be as shared below-

Fewer students in batch than sanctioned intake
It will be interesting to note that most of the above IIMs are running with a shortfall of students in their 2015-17 batch. It is no surprise if they reduce their qualifying CAT 2015 score percentile cut off in, yet to be announced, admission policy for 2016-18 batch to get the full intake in their class rooms.

Infant IIMs not independent
IIMs are the first choice of CAT 2015 test takers. But it appears that these IIMs are losing their charisma in offering high quality management education to their students due to which instead of announcing their admission policy for 2016-18 batch, they have withdrawn the earlier published batch size also.

Dangling between high or low CAT scores?
Almost all of these 5 IIMs required high CAT percentile for admission in 2015. If they continue with the same criteria it is very much possible that instead of exploring admission opportunity in these IIMs, candidates might search for other relatively low cost or private options for MBA admission since the fee structure in these IIMs is as high as in any top rated B-school in the country.

Since CAT 2015 result is going to be declared in 3-4 days, most of the high percentilers will be exploring their admission chances in different IIMs. These IIMs, if remain lazy without announcing their admission policy along with fee structure and intake for 2016-18 batch, may not find many good candidates opting for them.

Better options for aspirants
On the other hand IIM aspirants are advised not to get confused as they have many better options compatible and even better than these IIMs to pursue MBA 2016-18. The minimum required CAT 2015 percentile to qualify for shortlisting announced by IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Tiruchirappalli and IIM Udaipur is not very high and stands at par with the newest IIMs like IIM BodhGaya and IIM Sirmaur who started operation in 2015 only.
