With the declaration of CAT 2015 result on January 8, 2015 at 1 PM on the registered mobile phones of 1.80 lakh CAT takers, the prediction by MBAUniverse.com that result would be declared in 3 days has proved its authenticity of sharing correct information to its readers as against the speculation made in various media reports that the CAT 2015 result would be declared on Jan 12 or so.

The information published was disseminated only after getting confirmation from CAT 2015 convener and faculty at IIM Ahmedabad Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay who said, “CAT 2015 result should be sometime before second week of January 2016.”

Result out after Ups and downs
It was earlier proposed that the CAT 2015 result would be declared in the second week of January 2016. No doubt CAT 2015 convening IIM Ahmedabad has kept its promise by declaring the result on time. But various media reports and blogs left no stone unturned in confusing the candidates that the result would be declared on January 12 or sometime towards the end of the second week.

Accordingly the result has been declared by IIM Ahmedabad in the beginning of the second week of January 2016 without announcing the result declaration date.

55000 to be shortlisted by IIMs
Out of total 1.80 lakh CAT 2015 test takers, IIMs propose to shortlist between 50000 to 55000 candidates for admission to around 5500 seats in their various management programmes. Besides more than 30000 candidates are proposed to be shortlisted by the top rated B-schools like FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, IMI, IMT, TAPMI, BIMTECH, NITIE among others for admission to MBA/PGDM 2016-18 programmes.

Jan 8: Morning confusion
A technical glitch occurred around 9AM on January 8, 2016 when CAT 2015 takers could view their result between 9 AM to 9.40 AM after login on CAT 2015 website as existing user. But before they could download their score cards, the site was blocked.

Did it happen accidentally or it was a deliberate move to enable and then disable the CAT 2015 result after some time in the morning on January 8, 2016? It created Chaos among the candidates as they could no longer view their result due to blocking of the site. Instead of speculating, team MBAUniverse.com to defuse the situation, immediately contacted the CAT 2015 convener who confirmed the glitch but assured that the result would also be out today and shared “Yes it was a technical glitch at TCS's end. But it was blocked immediately. Today the CAT 2015 results would be out.”

The fact came to light when CAT 2015 test takers claimed to have viewed their scores. It appears that the CAT 2015 result was enabled and was disabled again as some technical glitches might have erupted. Candidates like Prerna Gaur who could view her score card claims that her result displayed a score of 135 with a percentile of 93+; another candidate Avishek Pal says his score card displayed a percentile of 50+. All this remained open between 9AM to 9.40 AM and then suddenly the site was blocked and no more login was allowed to the candidates.

Chaos among candidates

The test takers started getting panicky whether the CAT 2015 result would be available by the evening today or it has again been postponed. CAT Centre 2015 instead of assuring the candidates about the proposed time of re-enabling of result also blocked the site.

Since there was no clarification from CAT Centre 2015, it appeared that the result that was enabled initially defying all the claims in media to publish the CAT 2015 result on Jan 12, 2015 was disabled due to occurrence of some technical glitches which prompted the blocking of the site.

CAT 2015 was the biggest national level MBA/PGDM entrance test with 1.80 lakh candidates appearing in the exam on a single day on Nov 29, 2015. The scores of CAT 2015 will be accepted not only by 19 IIMs but also many other top rated B-schools for admission in 2016.
