Could it be termed as leakage of result, hacking of CAT 2015 website or did it happen accidentally due to technical glitch on the part of TCS the CAT 2015 testing partner? Was it a deliberate move to enable and then disable the CAT 2015 result after some time in the morning on January 8, 2016?
However none can deny the fact that due to this unpredictable slippage on the part of TCS, thousands of CAT 2015 test takers could view their result between 9 AM to 9.40 AM today on January 8 2016 after login on CAT 2015 website as existing user.
But before they could download their score cards, the site was blocked with the message ‘The Login to form will be available only between 25-10-2015 12 Hours 45 Minutes to 08-01-2016 10 Hours 36 Minutes’
It created chaos among the candidates who were waiting for the official declaration of result and thought that the publication of the result on the site meant the final result. However, Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay convener CAT 2015 confirmed that it was due to the technical glitch on part of TCS due to which the result could be viewed.
In fact it is the usual practice that CAT site login gets blocked for sometime before declaration of result as massive activity has to be done before publishing the result. The server also gets overflowed sometimes and therefore it has to be ensured that the result publication remains smooth and glitch free. However it appears that TCS just forgot to block the login while processing the result finally before placing it in public domain. This facilitated the candidates to get temporary access to their result. Neither IIM Ahmedabad nor TCS has denied the fact that the access to the result was enabled due to technical glitch but no leakage of the result has been reported and admitted either by CAT Centre 2015 or TCS the testing partner.
After the episode, IIM Ahmedabad not only sent the overall percentile scores of CAT 2015 through SMS but officially also announced that “CAT 2015 Percentile is sent to the candidates through SMS. Score Cards will be available by 8th Jan 2016 evening.”
Instead of getting swayed by misleading reports, candidates are advised to check their scores on Mobile and get the score cards after CAT 2015 result is out in detail in the evening and see whether they have score qualifying sectional percentile necessary for IIMs in admission 2016.
