Once again, making Common Admission Test – CAT 2015 a domain of engineers, 17 candidates including 1 girl candidate from engineering background have scored 100 percentile in CAT 2015. The number has surpassed the last year 100 percentilers who were 16 in number, shares IIMA. CAT 2015 result declared by IIMA has however maintained the legacy that began last year when a girl Neha Manglik scored 100 percentile for the first time since 2009. Again in CAT 2015 a lone girl from engineering back ground has hit 100 percentile. Candidates from other domain will have to wait for next year CAT 2016 to achieve the target of 100 percentile.
Sharing the figures with MBAUniverse.com, IIM Ahmedabad has informed that all 100 percentilers are from engineering back ground including one girl. The details of all the 100 percentilers are to be received.
Two candidates from Indore and Bhopal have scored 100 percentile. While V. K. Giri is from Bhopal, Prateek Bajpai is from Indore. Prateek has helped his city to maintain the legacy of scoring 100 percentile in CAT for a consecutive second year. Last year Harshveer Jain scored 100 percentile in CAT. Speaking to MBAUniverse.com Prateek has shared that he would prefer IIM Ahmedabad followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta
There were 16 candidates in CAT 2014 scoring 100 percentile and this number was the highest as compared to earlier CAT exams. CAT 2015 result has crossed the past year’s record of 100 percentilers with 17 candidates achieving the feat as shared by the CAT 2015 convening IIM Ahmedabad.
CAT 2015 result was declared on Friday January 8, 2016. While the result was made available on the website in the evening by IIM Ahmedabad, an SMS test was sent around 1 PM to all the 1.80 lakh candidates advising them their overall percentile scored in CAT 2015.
Another key feature on the result day was that due to technical glitch on part of testing partner TCS, as shared by IIMA, thousands of the candidates could view their result before it was enabled on website. Later on the site was blocked and the candidates could no longer get the opportunity to have access to it till 6.30 PM. While media reports termed it as a leak of the result before time, Convener CAT 2015 and IIMA faculty Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay refuted the claim and said “Today morning (between 9:00-9:40 am), some students accessed their own results (not others) on the portal during the period the website was being updated, which caused some confusion among students. There was no leakage, no error or hacking of data whatsoever. TCS plugged this loophole immediately."
CAT 2015 exam was held on Nov 29, 2015 for admission to PGDM/MBA 2016-18 programme in premier B schools like 19 IIMs, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, IMI, IMT, NITIE, TAPMI among others. To improve academic and gender diversity in IIM class rooms, pattern of CAT 2015 exam was also changed. It was expected that more candidates from non-engineering back ground would score 100 percentile in CAT 2015. But defying the changes, engineers have again claimed all the 100 percentile positions when CAT 2015 result was declared.
The CAT 2015 convener and faculty IIM Ahmedabad Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay while convening CAT 2015 made it a point that more candidates from non-engineering background should join IIMs. But since all the 100 percentilers in CAT 2015 are from engineering back ground, the dominance of engineers in CAT 2015 has again been proved. However, IIM Ahmedabad has a reason to smile as the gender diversity among 100 percentilers has somewhat been achieved with a long girl hitting the highest score in CAT 2015.
