Live coverage at one of the CMAT 2016 test centres in Noida revealed more students reporting Logical Reasoning and General Awareness sections as more difficult than Quant and Verbal

The first yearly CMAT 2016 held on January 17, 2016 reported a successful change as the test not only began on time but also remained glitch free to a very large extent although few stray cases of technical glitch were reported.

Live coverage at one of the CMAT 2016 test centres in Noida revealed more students reporting Logical Reasoning and General Awareness sections as more difficult than Quant and Language Comprehension.

MBAUniverse.com team reached HIERANK Business school one of the CMAT 2016 testing venues. The test centre had the provision for about 90 candidates but only 55 or so candidates reported for the exam. In fact CMAT 2016 is the last exam providing the opportunity to CAT 2015 test takers who have scored between 50 to 70 percentile to improve their scores and get admission opportunity in good Business school.

Team MBAUniverse.com interviewed the test takers coming out of the exam centre. The candidates apart from disclosing that they faced difficulty in Logical Reasoning and General Awareness sections reported that the Data Interpretation part in Quant section was also confusing and time consuming.

However they were unanimous that Quant and Language comprehension sections were good and doable.

Reading comprehension passages in CMAT 2016 were followed by more reasoning type questions, while Quant contained more Algebra, Geometry and Arithmetic. Logical Reasoning questions consumed more time to solve while questions in Data Interpretation in Quant section also consumed more time than Quant questions.

Questions on General Awareness were also found tricky but those who prepared GK well especially related to all the spheres could attempt it better. Since the candidates were fresh after taking XAT 2016 on January 3, 2016 which consisted of trickier GK questions, the section despite posing difficulty could be attempted well. However, the GK questions could only be attempted if they were known else it was wise to move to next question instead of wasting time on the existing one.

CMAT 2016 began at 9.30AM and the candidates began pouring in from 8AM onwards for security check and verification of documents. There was no rush of the students who were guided to their designated testing labs by the test volunteers. The exam was over at 12.30 PM. Some of the candidates whose computers systems got stuck in between were allowed more proportionate time to complete the exam within 3 hours as displayed on their computer screen.

A few candidates also faced the technical glitches during the exam although it began on time. Candidates found technical problems during the CMAT 2016 in navigation tools and moving the questions to and fro since the test takers found their systems getting stuck. This created disruptions as well as consumed more time.

A few candidates completed the test before the scheduled time and wanted to come out of the testing rooms. But they were allowed to come out of the testing lab only after the exam was over at 12.30PM.

100 questions divided in 4 sections
CMAT 2016 contained 100 questions divided in 4 sections with 25 questions in each section on Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation; Logical Reasoning; Language Comprehension and General Awareness. All the questions carried equal weightage of maximum 4 marks each with 1/4 negative marking for every wrong answer.

A raw score of 175 marks out of maximum 400 in CMAT 2016 could secure a call from good B-school for MBA/PGDM 2016-18 batch.
