IIM Shillong: shortlists with 70 sectional CAT 2015 percentile; candidates to register by 2PM today; check & finalize

IIM Shillong has shortlisted candidates with a sectional percentile of 70 in CAT 2015 without prescribing overall percentile for WSAT & PI round
Last date of submission of filled in online application form is extended till 19th January 2016 by 14:00 Hrs. IST IIM Shillong

On the lines of IIMA shortlsiting criteria, IIM Shillong, the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong,  has also shortlisted the candidates with a sectional percentile of 70 and without any predefined overall percentile in CAT 2015 for 2nd stage of PGP 2016-18 admission round the Writing Skills Assessment Test (WSAT) and Personal Interview (PI).

Not only this the weightage awarded to academic profile is also based on lower percentage of marks than many other IIMs. If you have not visited and checked whether you have been shortlisted, it is advisable to immediately visit the IIM Shillong website before 2 PM today.

Registration opportunity expires at 2 PM today
IIM Shillong after extending the last date for registration to January 19, 2016 will be closing the registration process at 2 PM today.  According to IIM Shillong ‘Last date of submission of filled in online application form is extended till 19th January 2016 by 14:00 Hrs. IST. Please ensure that you provide your CAT-2015 Registration No. and Date of Birth correctly to check for any further details on the admission process for the PGP-2016-18 batch at IIM Shillong’.

Communication to short listed candidates only
According to IIM Shillong ‘Short-listed candidates would be intimated through IIMS website (www.iimshillong.in), e-mail (as provided in CAT Application form) and by SMS, tentatively by the second week of January 2016 after the CAT results are published. Shortlisted candidates are required to fill-in the Interview form and upload the same on IIMS website (www.iimshillong.in). IIM Shillong would send WSAT & PI call letters/interview letters to those shortlisted candidates who correctly fill in the Interview form within the stipulated time. No communication would be sent to applicants who are not short-listed for WSAT & PI’.

Minimum 70 percentile applied to shortlist candidates
Shortlisting criteria applied by IIM Shillong comprises minimum requirement of 70 percentile in CAT 2015. There is no prescribed minimum overall CAT 2015 percentile required by IIM Shillong in its shortlisting criteria.

Weightage to Academic Profile
Candidates will be shortlisted by IIM Shillong for WSAT & PI stage on the basis of composite scores which will be arrived at by accounting for the academic profile alsoThe Composite Score therefore is calculated on the basis of CAT 2015 score and  academic scores.

In fact candidates scoring percentage of marks above 90 can get a good weightage in the computation of composite scores.

Those who have not scored a minimum 70 percentile in the 3 sections in CAT 2015 may not expect to be shortlisted by IIM Shillong despite having an excellent academic profile. There is no weightage to gender diversity although IIM shilling will award weightage to academic diversity.

Key facts on admission; shared by IIM Shillong
In regard to the admission process for PGP 2016-18 batch, IIM Shillong has shared following important points

-- The entire process of shortlisting and selection of candidates at IIM Shillong for its Post Graduate Programme is independent of all other IIMs.
-- Performance in CAT and consistently well academic record are important criteria for short-listing of candidates to the second stage of admission process. Candidates should note that it is important to perform well relative to other candidates at each stage of the process.
-- A candidature would automatically stand cancelled, if at any point of the admission process, the candidate does not respond and adhere to the requirements of the process.
-- IIM Shillong would protect the privacy of all the individual candidates and confidentiality of the process to prevent abuse. Based on these considerations, the performance details of an individual are not made available to any other person.
-- To ensure that the perceived lack of transparency does not in any way affect the candidates negatively, adequate care is taken in formation of panel, development of objective criteria for assessment, random allocation of candidates to a panel, establishing scientific reliability of the process and other such measures.
-- Candidates appearing in PI, will be able to check their status regarding admission offer by IIMS Shillong by the last week of April, 2016 by visiting the institute’s website.  The same information, along with offer document, will be sent over to the candidate’s registered e-mail.
-- Such Candidates, who are offered admission, will need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities within the stipulated time frame. Failing to do so will forfeit their candidature and the offer will be made to candidates on wait-list. Wait list candidates may be required to respond to admission offer, if made at a short notice.
-- The Institute reserves the right to revoke the offer of admission to any candidate not fulfilling the offer-acceptance requirements as per specifications.
